That can’t be right, huh?

Weren't they on ncaa probation in 1958? But they are also claiming 1993, when they were also on ncaa probation, though they are claiming 2004 because, get this, USC later went on probation.

The AP and the coach's poll were the recognized sources at that time, for good reason.

I've never in my life heard anybody suggest LSU was not the best team that year.

the rest are whatever........sure.

But claiming '58 is on another level.

This absurdity pisses me off we dont play Auburn every year. I miss it.

Claiming a banned year (93') as a championship is diabolical as the kids say

You don't seem to be following this well. Using the same standard, so is every single Auburn claim.

This is completely incorrect.

From the Mike Shula team that didn't return textbooks at the end of the semester ?

Even the ncaa realized that was too petty to prevent Alabama from playing in the BCS playoff, and competing for the national title, years later under another coach. Alabama did play in the BCS playoff games in 2011 and 2012, and was awarded the BCS national titles.

On the flip side, Auburn was prohibited from post season play for recruiting violations and pay for play during the 1958 and 1993 seasons. LSU was national champions in 1958 as judged by the recognized sources of the time, AP and UPI, as FSU in 1993.

These are not analogous. Auburn was ineligible for postseason play in 1958. Alabama was not ineligible for postseason play in 2011 and 2012.

How about claiming a title after a postseason loss?

Claiming a title based on the system all schools were adhering to at the time is also not analogous to Auburn claiming 1958.

If Bama were to use Auburn's new methodology, we'd be claiming close to 30 titles. You're comparing apples and oranges. What Auburn is doing here isn't comparable to what any other university does.

If programs can just self-proclaim championships, why even play the games. Just have spring practice and everybody claim their trophies.

That meme is perfect. Auburn had to cross into the absurd, stretching the very limits of the imagination and what anyone would consider reasonable, just to get to NINE championships.

It's truly embarrassing for them.
