We're not on the bubble. But we're not automatically out - win every game except one, upset Florida, and lose a close SEC tournament championship game, and we'd be in.
In other words, don't give up hope - but don't be making any travel plans, unless your second favorite team is Florida.

Cam helping Auburn knock Alabma right off the bubble is probably the highlight of Auburn's basketball season and should sustain us until we hire Bruce Pearl in 2014 . . . D.W.I

Bruce Pearl should fit in well with Pat Dye. Keep it down home, cuz.

Maybe for a NIT bid.

12 points count as blowouts now?
When you only score 37, a 12 point loss represents a 25% points differential.
It was without question a blowout at the hands of the worst team in the SEC.

Straight Cash Homey
Seriously, though Auburn has absolutely nothing to lose by hiring Pearl. No ones beating down the door to coach basketball in the SEC, which is something you guys should consider before running Grant out of town

This ^ is the correct answer, stranger things have happened. Good teams tend to find their stride going into March. You would need to win out beating FL and OM then at least get to the Championship game of the SEC tourny. IMO

I'm not ready to dump Grant. I think we should give him another year. His recruiting and character are top notch, so the only reason to fire him would be horrible coaching, which at this point I am not convinced is true (certainly not great coaching, but not sure it's horrible).

You'd want Bama to have a shot and be a 15/16 seed playing a 2/1 seed? No thanks. This team could run the table and still wouldn't deserve to go to the dance.

I like Grant a lot as a person and he is a great defensive X's and O's coach, but do you really think he's an excellent recruiter? Last year the team didn't have anyone that could hit a shot, this year there is not a D-1 caliber big man. He's been at Bama for 4 years, he should have been able to recruit a complete team by now.

I don't know that he's an EXCELLENT recruiter, but I think he's a good recruiter. When has Alabama ever had a truly great big man? Hell, I remember playing LSU when they had Shaq and we actually had Robert Horry guarding him.
I know injuries are part of the game, but it's hard to overcome them in basketball.

No they aren't. What top recruiting class has he brought in or should I say what top player ?

I am not an expert on basketball, and there's no way to say he has been successful. But I think it's a pretty good recruiting job to get the players we have on this team. Alabama is not a big draw in basketball, and nobody playing today remembers when we had regularly good teams.

There are two words in this sentence that simply cannot be used do describe Alabama this year.

....no one's beating the door down for an SEC job yet perennial basketball doormat Auburn is the school that Pearl is going to hold out for once he gets back into coaching? Auburn is AT BEST the 10th best basketball job in the league.

Pearl is NCAAB's Bobby Petrino w/ a Show Cause attached to really make him unappealing. Hopefully, his track record scares away the big & mid-major basketball schools and desperation drives him right down to the Plains
