2010. It was six. And I still think at the end of the year they were the best team in the BCS. God I wish Saban would come to Georgia.

great logic dude...who was #1? you don't think Miami would have been rewarded with at least a share of the title for beating #1??

That game was the de facto Title game. Penn State got nothing that year...(which was more pre-BCS title shenanigans)

Bottom line is that Miami wasn't guaranteed a title if they had won. Not a title game.

well, for one, their dynasty hasn't carried over to the SEC, where they've lost at home a few times and only have 2 SEC titles...

How can you be a "National" dynasty, but not one in your own conference??

The ugly truth of the Alabama dynasty and the false shenanigans of the BCS

I think you've answered your own thread question. Bama is no dynasty, period.

A summary of the thread so far:

LSU fans: not a dynasty
everyone else: dynasty

Bama has the best conference record in that span, the most SECCG appearances, and the most SECC's. They're not even tied with anyone. So...

FSU? Saban has accomplished more at Bama in less than a decade than Bowden ever did.

No, man. Losing your biggest games and finishing in the top five is much more impressive than winning three out of four National Championships.

if you are going to refute their dynasty claims, what are your criteria for a dynasty?

something that shows they are a little more than a mini-dynasty...

And I'm sorry, but of all the major sports in America, the college football national championship is the least respectable...its getting better, but in a sport where they used to crown the NC before the bowls (before '64), the National Championship has a struggle with legitimacy....

A lot of teams would have blown the doors off of Notre Dame last year....Just imagine if Ohio State wasn't on probation last year. The title game would have been between Notre Dame and Ohio State...

So back to the question, I want to see more dominance from Alabama, especially in conference, as far as conference championships.

IMO, you should be able to look at their conference championships and spot the dynasty...like FSU in the ACC: FSU in the ACC - Championships

OR like Florida in the SEC in the '90s:
SEC Championships

IMO, a real DYNASTY dominates over a long period of time...

Alabama has had a good run, but they certainly haven't dominated, losing to LSU, Texas A&M, and squeeking out victories against Georgia

If for some reason, Saban retired, and Alabama sunk from here on out, would everyone look back at this as a dynasty? or more like a run similar to USC '03-'05, and Miami '01-'02...

If what Alabama has done is dynasty, then what do you call FSU '87-'00, Miami '83-'94, and Nebraska '92-'01?? Because they've done a hell of a lot more than Alabama's run of the last 4 years...do we need a new term? lol

The first page was full of 3 out of 4 talk but don't forget that they went undefeated in the regular season in 2008 and then in 2010 won 10 games and damn near won the three they lost.

Also, recruiting if possible has gotten even better the past few seasons as they've branched out more nationally.

Yes, it's a dynasty, and unless someone in the SEC steps it up, we're looking at potentially the most dominant dynasty in history.
