Iron Bowl margin of victory

In the past 7 seasons (Saban era) when Auburn has won the Iron bowl the average margin of victory has been 4.6 pts.
When Alabama has won, it has been 29.5 pts.
Why are the games so close when Auburn wins but are blow outs when Alabama wins?

Is this really a question?

Because Bama can't win close games against its rival under Saban???

Which team has the biggest wins?

Auburn's been pretty up and down. Alabama has been consistently good.
2008 we were awful. Tubbs got fired.
2009 we were decent but nothing special. Lost by 5 on a late drive
2010 Cam & Fairley ripped y'all's heart out.
2011 once again. Not so good.
2012 3-9
2013 Kick six.
2010 and 2013 were the only AU teams that are as good as we're used to.

God only helps those who can help themselves.

Because Alabama has been good pretty much every year during the last 7 seasons. Everyone knows Auburn can't string together multiple good seasons.

Because the only AU teams Saban has managed to beat have been bad teams while good AU teams always beat good Bama teams.
2012 - worst AU team in 60 years. Lost 3 games by at least 39 points.
2011 - Lost 4 games by 24+ points. Three teams beat AU worse than bama as well.
2009 - Bama pulled it out in the final minute.
Stupid thread. Bama has blown out 2 terrible AU teams that got blown out by several other teams those years as well. Everytime bama has faced a decent AU team they have lost. I guess what you are looking for is bama can't win when it counts against good AU teams?

Serious answer: both sides play with a lot of passion and emotion in the biggest rivalry game in college football.
That emotion goes either strongly in Auburn's favor or strongly against them, hence close games or blowouts.
But it goes against everything Lord Saban teaches, so it actually hurts Bama and games that they have no business losing, they do.

You're joking, right? You've had two good teams in the previous six seasons and THAT'S what you're "used to"? You've not had consecutive ten win seasons in a quarter of a century. You're "used to" 8-9 win seasons. 2010 & 2013 were out of the norm.

If Auburn wins the game this year, Saban will be 4-4 against us. How will you feel about that?
Having the recruiting success he has along with the great teams on the field, being tied with his in state rival who has obviously had some major up and downs is really not great.
This along with losing two of the biggest and most memorable Iron bowls in history.
Would you feel good about that?
ETA. adjust for 2007.

Let me clarify. Those were the only teams that were at or above the level we are used to seeing Auburn play. Those two teams were above the level we're used to. But '08, '09, '11, and '12 we're not at the level we are used to. All of those teams suffered blowouts to multiple teams.

So he'll have as many losses to AU at Bama as he has national championships at Bama? I think I'll get over it fairly quickly.

Ok. I can absolutely agree with this. As it relates to effort, heart, etc AU is usually much better than what they shows in 2008, 2011. & 2012.
