Agree on WR. RB is debatable as Yeldon is the only one that has proven his ability. Fowler looked incredible before his injury last season, but that was only a few games. And Drake we only saw late in games in mop-up duty. There is a TON of potential there however, and I won't be surprised if it is known as the best by mid-season.

The WR corps is just sick though, in talent, depth, and experience. Can't imagine how they're going to utilize all that talent.

Why do people think Alabama has such great receivers? I think Cooper has as many or more career receptions in like 8 games than any other player has in their entire career. And he only had 59 last year.... Talent is there (I'm assuming) but I dont get all the hype around them.

Before you jump on me, A&M has only one proven WR and I'm not proclaiming them better than anyone until we see them in action.

Florida:

QB - Junior Jeff Driskel is the clear cut starter. He is big (6'4, 235) and can make plays running the ball. He actually was the 2nd leading rusher on the team last year and had over 400 yards and 4 TD. He completed 64% of his passes last year, and although he was tentative at times as a first year starter, all reports out of camp is that he is in total command of the team and the offense. He is backed up by JuniorTyler Murphy, a dual threat QB that's done well as a back up, but has never thrown a pass in a live game situation.

RB - Sophomore Matt Jones has been completely in command of the #1 RB position, and even though he is sick and missing camp right now, he is still the clear cut starter once he returns. He had 275 on 53 carries last year and 3 TD. He is BIG and physical (6'2, 226). He is a one cut runner and has good speed for his size. Junior Mack Brown and Freshman Kelvin Taylor are battling it out for the #2 position. Both are over 210 pounds and strong. Brown is more of a straight ahead runner, and Taylor is a physical back who is extremely quick in space and can make people miss. Taylor is projected to win the #2 spot. He's a special talent.

FB - Hunter Joyer will spend most of the time in the FB position. He is one of the best blocking FB's in the SEC. He isn't used much to run or catch passes, he is generally used just to block.

TE - Florida has 4 TE's that are battling for playing time. Tevin Westrbook and Clay Burton are the big, massive blocking TE's. They won't catch many passes, but they are both big, strong, accomplished blockers in the running game (260+). RS Freshman Kent Taylor is more of a hybrid pass catcher and is still struggling with blocking, but is fast and a match up issue for TE in the passing game. At 6'5, 224 he makes an ideal target in the passing game. That being said, RS Freshman Colin Thompson seems to be the guy that can both block and catch and will probably be on the field most of all at this point. He is 6'3, 252, and he can run, catch, and block.

WR - The position is stronger this year than last year. RS Junior Quinton Dunbar has stepped up as a clear #1 WR for this team. He is big and physical at 6'1, 195 pounds and while he doesn't scare you deep, he is tough to cover on short and intermediate routes. Senior Trey Burton, who is a tough match up in the slot at 6'2, 225, will catch a lot of short passes and will also probably still be used all over the field. Senior Solomon Patton is a little speedster that has stepped up a lot this year. He will be used a lot in reverses and jet sweeps, but will also catch passes this year. Two newcomers will make a huge impact this year. True Freshman Demarcus Robinson is 6'2, 200 pounds and will start opposite Quinton Dunbar. He is fast, and a big time playmaker. He will make a big impact on UF's passing game right away. True Freshman Ahamd Fulwood has also made his presence known, and at 6'5, 190 gives UF a big, aggressive target in the passing game. He will play a lot right away for Florida. Sophomores Lattroy Pittman, Raphael Andrades, and true freshman Alvin Bailey will add depth to what could be a sneaky good receiving corp for the gators in 2013.

QB: Aaron Murray with Hutson Mason as the backup.
RB: Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall with JJ Green, Turman, and Douglas backups
WR: Malcolm Mitchell, Michael Bennett, Jonathan Rumph, Chris Conley, Rontavious Wooten
TE: Arthur Lynch and Jay Rome

Overall, we are stacked on offense. I'd take issue with the Bammer saying they are better at WR and RB than everyone else, but there's no rationalizing with half of that fan base. Gurley and Marshall will be similar to each other this year as Marshall has gained weight to become more of a power runner to go with his speed.

From a WR perspective, Mitchell is obviously a huge playmaker, Michael Bennett is a smooth route runner and was the "welker" for Murray up until his injury last year. Rumph is a 4-5 star JUCO WR who has been making serious strides in scrimmages, and Conley might have the best hands on the team.

Can we do defense instead

QB - Jeff Driskel - Top recruit of his class, has the arm and running ability to be a threat to any team, but his head hasn't been right yet. Doesn't progress reads, doesn't feel pocket collapsing, doesn't throw receivers open. He has a ton of upside, but right now he's average.

RB - Matt Jones - Stud. Beginning of last year he had a hard time just taking what the defense gives. He danced around to much instead of just getting through the hole. Once he learned, he became a threat instantly. Speed and Power. He finally started getting carries towards the end, see his 81 yards vs FSU. Kid should be a stud.

FB - Hunter Joyer - Top 3 fullback in the country.

WR - Q Dunbar - Good player. Not exactly what you want for your number 1 wide out though. Good blocker for sure downfield though really helps the run game.

WR- L Pittman - Not sure if he starts or not still don't know what's going on with Debose going down. Coaches praise him so he may be good.

WR - Demarcus Robinson - I think he starts as a true freshman. He may be the best playmaker on the offense by the end of the season.

F back - Trey Burton - Mister do it all. One of my favorite Gators. Works hard, does his job well. Really a good x factor for us.

TE - Clay Burton - I suspect he starts because he blocks well. Really worried about TE this season.

Offense should be better than last year. Still iffy on it though. Hopefully the same gameplan works. Don't turn it over, control the clock, and wear down the other team by brute force.

While true, the backfield has three five stars and three four stars. I know, that means nothing as far as results are concerned, but the potential is off the charts:

Cooper is really the only one that I would label as great right now. I think he was the best WR in the country the last 3/4 of last season. The rest are good to very good. It's more about the depth and experience. Norwood has been there, and contributing, for 4 years now. Bell has been there 3 years now and contributing. White was better than Cooper was early last season before his injury. Jones has been contributing for 2 years now.

QB- James Franklin will start for the third season in a row, to the dismay of many of the Mizzou loyals. RS Freshman Maty Mauk will serve as "the backup" although he is expected to take a handful of series each game, and possibly pass Franklin by season's end. True freshman Eddie Printz Jr. has moved up to #3 on the depth chart, and is getting scrimmage reps with the 2's. Although he is expected to take a redshirt this year, and allow Corbin Berkstresser who filled in a few games as last year's starter to take the 3 spot.

RB- Yes, Henry Josey is back as the starter. We're all hoping he's the same guy who gained 1250 yards and 8.1 ypc over 10 games in 2011. Right behind him is true Soph. Russell Hansborough. This guy got extensive playing time last year as a frosh, and is expected to carry much of the load again this year. Behind him is All-American Marcus Murphy. If you don't know who he is, just ask Alabama. Rounding out the top 4 is wrecking ball Greg White. The only back we carry who weighs in at over 230 lbs., he is expected to contribute solely as a goal line and short yardage back.

FB- Hahaha

TE- Leading the one's this year will be RS Frosh Sean Culkin. This guy is 6'5 255, runs like a deer, and could legitimately pass as a stand in for Thor. He's so highly regarded, that he was actually supposed to start as a true freshman last year, before breaking his fingers in preseason and taking a RS. The last 3 Mizzou starting TE's have either been Mackey award winners, or All-Americans, he'll be next. Behind him is the starter from the last two seasons Eric Waters. He's really a big slow wide receiver, who gets put in the slot and labeled a TE. And rounding out the top 3 is true freshman Jason Reese. From his camp performance, it looks like he might avoid a RS and contribute this season.

WR- Regardless of your SEC arrogance, Mizzou consistently has one of the top WR corps in the nation. And this group is the highest regarded since the '07 national title contender crew, most of which are playing on Sundays. Anyway Mizzou actually lists 12 starters on offense, and 4 of these are WR positions. At one spot yes, DGB is actually starting this year. Expect him to continue the performance he had in the last few games of 2012. At another starting spot, we have Marcus Lucas. At 6'5 230, this is his 3rd season as a starter, and there is serious draft talk surrounding this guy, watch out. Our big play specialist is L'Damian Washington. At 6'5 190 this guy looks and runs like a Jamaican sprinter. If you can stop him at the line great. If not, you better pray the ball doesn't get thrown his way, because you're not catching him. In the slot we once again have Jimmie Hunt. This guy is a terror in the open field, and gets a TD for every 3 balls that he catches. Of course rotating with this group will be a handful of studs, including former Texas 5* and #1 ranked receiver Darius White. This guy has serious pro porential, and still doesn't crack the starting rotation. That should tell you how deep this group is.

I mean I understand but "contributing" isn't good enough for me to start fapping over. 2 of their seniors had like 25-30 receptions for all of last year. 14 games - thats like 2 receptions a game. Give me a break.

Because their Oline mauled people last season ... Cooper just had to run a fly pattern on play action cause you had to bring your LBs and a safety up to the line to stop the run... It won't be like that this season ... Bama goes 10-2... 9-3 if they played LSU's schedule.

Just FYI - according to practice notes the 5 pass catchers that are standing out right now for the 1st team offense are:

Quinton Dunbar
Trey Burton
Solomon Patton
Demarcus Robinson
Ahmad Fulwood

Lattroy Pittman hasn't been really mentioned that much.

Texas A&M

QB - I believe you all know Mr. Manziel. The question mark is his number 2. We've got Matt Joeckel (JR, Luke Joeckels twin) who is a moderately talented pocket passer, Matt Davis: pretty big dual threat guy who red shirted last year, didnt look hot in the spring game but he is still a playmaker, and Kenny Hill: true freshman, another dual threat playmaker who I actually believe will win the backup role despite only going through fall camp. Hill ran a very similar offense in HS and our coaches say he knows how to operate the no-huddle without shouting or giving anything away to the defense.

RB - Returning starter Ben Malena is currently penciled in at no. 1 but I don't expect that to mean much. Ben is one of the hardest working guys on the team and a big leader but "behind him" are two 5* studs. Trey Williams is extremely talented and played really well last year as a frosh but i think the real story is Brandon Williams. He is a transfer from OU so he sat out all last year but everything points to him being our guy. We also have an Oregon transfer Tra Carson, who will be the short yards guy, a big bruiser at ~230 lbs.

TE - Returner Nehamiah Hicks has never been a star but coaches are excited about his progression, especially as a blocker. Next is Cameron Clear a Juco player whos been on campus since spring, he's 6'6 and ~270 lbs and just looks like the single biggest man I've ever seen. Very skilled blocker and we plan on using this guy a lot to create mismatches with our other skyscraping recievers.

WR - Interesting position with tons of talent but very young, look out for our WRs in the next years as they progress. Mike Evans (6'5) will be our obvious #1, Kalcome Kennedy is almost guarenteed to start too. Behind them the competition gets interesting. 5* frosh Ricky Seals-Jones will almost certainly play a ton at 6'5 240 lbs with freakish size-defying athletical abilities. Ja'Quay Williams (6'4) arrived last spring and looks promising. Sebastian Larue and Laquiviante Gonzalez are both speed demons who will get playing time but also work on special times as returners. Derel Walker and Sabian holmes looked very improved in spring ball. RS(FR) Edward Pope (6'4) Co-offensive MVP of scout team last year, played very well in spring as well.

SUMMARY:
QB: Hesiman winner up front, but need a solid backup.
RBs: deep and talented stable, expect A LOT of rotation between Malena and both the Williams.
TE/WR: Only two good vets and lots of top young talent. VERY TALL. We could potentially play 3 guys at once who are all 6'5.

I see your point. And it's just my admittedly biased opinion. The individual stats are diluted because we spread the ball around so much, and we were a run first offense. We shall see once the season starts.

Dang, Mizzou does sound like its got some serious WRs. not troling here but it really is a shame they don't have the rest of the puzzle pieces to show their full potential.
