More from the Commercial-Appeal:

quote:

On Auburn, the NCAA and Jovon Robinson
By Kyle Veazey on September 11, 2012 2:29 PM

At his weekly news conference today, Auburn coach Gene Chizik was asked a question about the presence of the NCAA here in Memphis, where Jovon Robinson, his now former running back, played high school football.

"I have one thing on my mind, and that's winning a football game this week. I'm not getting into that," he told the reporters, according to Charles Goldberg of al.com's Auburn Bureau.

It was a question avoided. Here's another: Since Friday, The Commercial Appeal has been asking Auburn if it has received notice from the NCAA of an inquiry into its football program. Given the amount of NCAA activity that we've outlined in our pages over the past month, the question makes sense. All Auburn spokesman Kirk Sampson will say is this:

"We are are not going to discuss what the NCAA may or may not be doing in Memphis or elsewhere."

Which, of course, does not answer the specific question -- whether Auburn has or has not received notice. I've continued to ask the question, either by email or phone message, to the compliance director, the athletic director, the university attorney, the university spokesman, the school president and two members of the board of trustees. No response, save for the university spokesman referring me to athletics. It's up to the schools themselves to acknowledge whether they've received such notices from the NCAA, a spokesperson for that organization confirmed to me Monday.

Listen man, don't shoot the messenger. This is a new article. It shows that Auburn is declining to comment on whether or not they've received a letter. Seems like they would want to take this opportunity to nip it in the bud if they hadn't.

He probably declined to comment on it because he's not allowed to at this point. That's how it always seems to be.

Stop trying to build on this thread. Bring some real shite to the table. When I do your lady, I bring it, she already has the pretender. By the way that thing she does with her tongue...DAMN!

I might have said too much already.

Why would Nick Saban comment on a kid that never enrolled at Alabama?

Could be, but wouldn't that imply there was still some kind of investigation ongoing? And hey, thanks for the constructive response. Wish everyone else in here would follow your lead.

These other people are acting like I'm making this shite up. I'm just posting information as it comes in. I figured this would be a topic the SEC rant would enjoy discussing.

So is this thread all BS now?

For all the tweets about everyone being in Memphis, the commercial appeal seems more concerned about the heart attack Jerry Lawler had last night.

It didn't tell us much, I'll agree with that. It did tell us that the guy in Memphis reporting on the situation from where it began feels his "investigation" has reached a point that a question about NOI is timely. He shares that he's asked for that info repeatedly and that he even asked the NCAA about it (and they said "ask the school", essentially).

While you are correct that this is nothing major, it is something no one wants at their school. That said, after all AU fans have weathered the past 2 years, I can understand how and why you would shrug it off. Your compliance staff is rock solid.
