Interesting Stats on Defenses OU has faced already vs future

I know Mateer has sucked. Impressed (and surprised) by those last 2 great passes he made to set up the RRS FG kick for win.
But the schedule was front loaded. And he has every opportunity in front of him to change the narrative. Will he take it? I’m not sold he will but he’ll face defenses not nearly as good as already.
With 2 losses OU has no margin for error. Beat #1 and lost to #2. Resume is good other than Michigan stinker. New Mexico win looks better as we’re their only loss. Time will tell.
Crazy how much disparity there is in defenses already faced and will face.

The OU offense has faced the 22nd, 7th, 3rd and 2nd best defenses in college football this season, according to ESPN SP+ rankings.
It's about to get a lot easier for that side of the ball.

Have you seen their schedule. Pretty weak. Who is Mercyhurst? An FCS team that is 1-5.
I agree with Georgia and Texas but let's not put New Mexico in with them.

Reminds me of LSU looking at UK 3rd down conversion.
Too soon?

Missouri in Columbia and Ole' Miss at home are the two that have me concerned. Especially Mizzou. Their QB is being severely underrated, they got their run game going without Hardy, and their defense looks pretty good.

I love stats.
Numbers are awesome.
Good thing teams still have to sack up and play between the lines.
Good luck!

Right now we're doing well at stopping the run and forcing the QB to beat us throwing. Mateer will have his chance.

Or the second half defensive stats get better after facing Mateer.

But can you complete a forward pass?

Every game left is hard.
Kentucky home
MSST away
SC home
Florida away
OM home
TAM home
Miz away
We could lose all these games. And win all too. Each has ability to beat us. My thought is our offense (QB play) is mostly whats held us back. Playing less good defenses might help Mateer. But we’ll see starting Sat.

yep. Kentucky likes to rush the ball which is OUs strength on defense ! What concerns me is we thought LSU had a good defense ans they put up a lot of points on them . I do not think LSU interior Dline are as good as OUs though. Every game Ou plays will be a close game I have little doubt .

Crazy stat. Mateer has sucked but helps explain a bit of it

@ParkerThune
Noteworthy factoid heading into OU/Kentucky...
In the Sooners' last nine games dating back to last season, they’ve faced only one team outside the national top 25 in scoring defense. That was UTEP (won 51-0).
Every other opponent has boasted a top-25 defense.

Now give the offensive ratings

I am sure we will make Mateer look like a Heisman candidate.
