From what I've read, unless you just stack your lineup with lefties, you are better off having 330 down both sides than 314 down the RF line and 350 down the LF line.

My high school field was 323 in left, 420 in center and 315 in right.
Was setup that way due to a paved road and the back side of the football field.
It was as deep as possible all the way around.

Short porches can actually get into hitters' heads and mess up their swing. I kind of like not having every field symmetrical. Fenway and Dodger stadium are kind of fun.

I’m guessing you pulled this info from school websites. Other source?
I’ve looked at this before on Google Earth, and the playing fields change dimensions over time. On some fields, the diamond itself changes from year to year, and almost all the fields have moved the fences over time.
The irregular shapes of the various ballparks makes the “power alleys” inconsistent. Straight away CF is not the deepest part of Disch-Falk.
I can’t post my screenshots on this site, but I’ll post them on a better forum and paste them here.
The 314’ listed for Georgia’s right field is generous.

The biggest outfield in MLB is Coors Field. Must be a real treat to pitch there.

The porch in Right Field is a whopping 308 ft.

I would expect there is similar "creep" on all the fields.
Cliff Gustafson wanted DF to resemble Rosenblatt Field in Omaha. The turf was state of the art in 1975, and Cliff recruited for it, premier pitching, guys that could run and play defense, and play small ball on a fast track.
Augie brought the fenses in, probably to let guys put up better HR stats, and minimize the need for premier pitchers, with pitch counts becoming the norm.
Schloss is a combination of the two. Pitching & defense, with disciplined hitters that go deep in the counts, forcing the other teams to go deep into their rotations.

I think you just made most people’s point and why this thread is kind of dumb about it’s not just field dimensions that dictate what’s a hitter or pitcher friendly park. Although that short fence in the corner certainly helps.

The thinner air means that breaking balls don’t brake, which is the shits for pitchers.
If you pay golf, it’s is harder to slice there, and it takes off like a rocket when you crush one.

There are now bullpens and fan areas where the outfield fences came in. Existing bullpens were lost when seating was extended down the foul lines. Relocating the bullpens I believe is the actual reason the fences came in.

Not true. Everyone from tRant knows that Tennessee's field dimensions are significantly smaller than anyone else in the SEC. Center field is actually in front of 2nd base, and right field his halfway between the plate and 1st.

What makes Alex Box and Swayze large is the 330 on the corners. Overall square footage doesn't really mean anything.
