We are comfortable with either of them in the back field. I did not see much drop off last year when Richardson was on the field. I personally think and have said that I feel like Richardson has more raw talent.

They're both overrated imo.

Did you watch the National Championship game? Alabama was running the ball on will in the first half. He goes out for a good part of the third quarter and our running game goes to hell. Alabama just wasn't the same team without him.

I like Blue Indian live - "My hat's off to you, to you and you".
FWIW IMHO I think Richardson is the more talented back, but he will not finish with Ingrams stats or accomplishments. They are both flat out studs.

absolutely love the tabernacle man. I really want to get a ticket. Went to Phish in Miami for NYE, and it was amazing.

Ingram averaged just 18 touches per game if I'm not mistaken....

I'm a bit biased because I live in the Panhandle and used to watch Richardson when he played in high school. I was a fan of his before he went to Bama. I mean he put up 420 yards on a team that year, which didn't let up even half that many rushing yards in any of their other games IIRC.
I think at this point he's further along than Ingram, and I believe Ingram even acknowledged that himself. Ingram seems to have produced more, but he had more opportunties than Trent. As strange as it sounds, I feel Trent is the harder runner to tackle and bring down, and sometimes he manages to stay on his feet and keep moving forward when one would think no human being could. His spin move and stiff-arm are already pretty damn effective and sometimes he manages to do both at the same time. If I had to choose between two, I'd choose Richardson, simply because I know he's a bit stronger and probably faster in terms of top-end speed.

I can say one thing, when my boy T-Rich gets the starting job after Ingram is gone, he wont share carries like he and Ingram did...

Seems?....
Wrong he averaged 1 yard less per carry than that of Ingram...Fact.
But I too think he more of a physical presence than Ingram.... and has more upside to the next level.
But again. time will tell.

another thing to think about too is that we haven't seen Richardson get a 25+ carries game... when we see that he can keep trucking out all those yards just like Ingram, then the debate gets to go further. and in all obviousness, i have zero doubts that he can keep knocking those yards down, but i'm just saying it's hard to fully argue this debate due to a lack of circumstantial evidence.
in the end, the numbers will tell us all we need to know.
Exactly. It's a lot easier for somebody to come in and get 10 carries a game against a tired defense than it is to be the one tiring them out. Add to that the fact that Ingram averaged more ypc and I think it is fair to say at this point that Ingram is the better rb. Personally I think the fact that Coffee, Ingram and Richardson have all had the success that they have had the last 2 years that the ultimate credit should go to the OL. I'm sure it has been asked but what would have happened if Coffee came back for his sr year? Would he have won the Heisman? All 3 are big time backs and I don't mean to slight any of them but I honestly think there were a few backs in the SEC that could have put up similar numbers behind that offensive line.

Ingram made a lot of improvement from year 1 to year 2 and I expect Trent to do the same thing. Both have good but different strengths. Richardson is the faster guy, Ingram is more shifty and sees holes better at this point. Both are hard to bring down. I like how Saban chooses to use 2 to 3 backs and keep everyone fresh to maximize their carries.
Posted on 2/19/10 at 4:03 pm to lsutiger2
Both are good but the Tide OL does not get enough credit during run blocking.
Posted on 2/19/10 at 4:06 pm to SloMeaux
right now ingram is better, but in the future i think Richardson will be better. i think he would start at any other SEC school. that td run against arkansas where he broke like 5 or 6 tackles was amazing

He almost certainly will. Saban likes running two to three backs. And we'll have big time talent backing Trent up, whether its Lacy, Fowler, some guys who haven't even signed yet. Ingram and Richardson didn't even really share the carries this year, If I remember correctly Ingram had like 270 to Richardson's 140. It should be closer to 50/50 this year.
