In hindsight, was the timing of letting Kiffin go a bad move?

2/15 on 3rd down, Hurts being a freshman, biggest game of the year, etc..
I'm all aboard the "frick Lane Train", but can't help but think that the consistency of play calling and Hurts being accustomed to working with Lane would have been better for Bama overall. If you're going to do it, I feel like it is now fairly obvious that it should have happened before the semis.
Thoughts from bama fans?
Either way, one of the best title games I've seen in my lifetime.

What was the real story? Was it Saban firing him or Kiffin leaving?

my thoughts as well.
I also don't think it would have been a bad idea to leave him on once the Washington game was finished. It was a little too late at that point.

all accounts point towards Kiffin being distracted by his new job, and therefore Saban didn't make him "ride out his 2 weeks notice", if you will.

obviously that was not the case. I personally think Lane would have drawn up a few more designed QB runs similar to how he did late vs LSU.
Bama had success with that last night early on and never truly went back to it.

I don't think kiffin would have scored more points. Jalen got nervous and didn't want to lose the game and lacked a bit of confidence to try and let the ball go on a lot of the roll outs he made where he just threw it away. Running against that d without bo was gonna be tough and we just couldn't sustain a drive in the second half. Hindsight maybe but it's not something I think that would have made a difference

I just think the best quality Hurts has is his legs, and Kiffin knew when and where to utilize that. Sark seemed to ignore it even when it worked.

Giving Sark a week to prep for the biggest game of the year was not the best idea, but all the pressure is off of him for right now.
He'll have an entire offseason to plan and implement his own plays, plus he can work on our offense's strengths and weaknesses.

Honestly don't think it made any difference. They scored 31 against the #2 team in the country. Some of the uptempo was questionable, but that's been the MO all year. It was Clemson's night, and they won with 1 second to play.

Before Washington game. Saban had no choice he was obviously ill prepared for Washington and called a bad game. Clemson defense was better than Washington and Bama somehow had more success. He should have been let go the minute he accepted the FaU job.

Ya I was at the game so don't remember the flow very well. A lot of hurts runs this year have been on those rollouts but clemson did well against that - probably schemed some to take hurts ability run on those away so force the pass. And personally I think he just didn't want to throw a late pick and played on his heels when we needed to make first downs instead of throwing it away

Ya I think some of the rumors about sark having a post game issue after sec championships are true and he may have been somewhat forced to keep kiffin if so

I also stand by my point from a week or so ago that it was a bad idea to ever bring him in, regardless of 2015's season.

I don't think it really mattered. Clemson has a good defense and Hurts struggled passing the ball way before the playoffs. Kiffin hid some of that with design qb runs and one read routes during the season. Hurts has to become a better passer no matter who the OC is.

Regardless, we live in a universe in which FAU has influenced the national championship and that's something no person who has ever lived thought would happen. What a time to be alive!
