Impressed with Mike Leach’s win, but he better learn to coach with the lead.

Leach’s biggest wart is that he doesn’t coach situational football, and it has been a problem for him his whole career.
With MSU up by 10 and struggling late in the game, his inability/unwillingness to run the ball or even slightly modify his game plan almost cost his team the game.
Why can’t coaches sometimes see obvious errors and make corrections?

I mean we had done a good job against the run when they tried us and he was gashing us through the air, why change?

Because turnovers breathed new life into LSU.

Because he passed the ball and won by 10?

Because they don't think their errors are errors. Coaches are a notoriously stubborn bunch.

Mike Leach won't even have a lead to worry about this weekend. Hogs going in

This right here proves your outdated thinking.
In the AR, a shallow pass for 4-7 yards is the exact same as a run. And State did run the ball, the stat sheet shows 9 yards but that’s due to the QB losing a ton of yards on his sacks, the RBs averaged 4.9 ypc running the ball. Mikes offense doesn’t have an off button, he’s trying to score every possession.

At some point, they will surely lose a game that they could have won just by chewing up clock. No one will really care because the fact that MSU is even competitive in some of these games is an impressive feat all on its own.

As opposed to Mullen he is light years ahead. Mullen is notorious for taking his foot off the gas in vital moments particularly at the end of the game when it’s time to put them away.

Its almost like you have never watched a Leach coached team.
Yes. That's what is going to happen at some point. And when it does, its going to be incredibly frustrating.
He lost a 32 point second half lead to UCLA last year. There were a bunch of turnovers trying to keep scoring.
But, we (and every other team) have lost games because we took our foot off the gas. That was Mullen's MO. Remember that 2014 game at LSU that State dominated? LSU had the ball with a chance to win on the last play.
The infamous South Alabama upset. Same thing. Dominated the game, played it safe and all of a sudden we lose.
It works both ways.

The guy built up two programs in TTU and WSU. Mullen had the worst record in ncaa history in ranked match ups at MSU and Leach is undefeated in them.

You should write him a letter and tell him

Sounds like he needs to work on ball security, rather than try to change what's worked the entire game.

Hmm this smells like fear coming from a Bama fan.
But, Arky has nothing to fear. They can't lose this one. Unfortunately for us, Leach won't learn how to coach with a lead in this game. We'll never have the lead.

Sam Pittman is chomping at the bit. He will commit to the running game and keep State's offense off the field. He's gonna dominate time of possession. Our DBs are far superior to LSU's so State fans can forget about wide open receivers on streaks and crosses. Costello will throw at least three picks.
Arkansas is going to shock the nation saturday, but it won't be a shock to the Hogs. The better team will win.

That loss was largely on Mullen deciding to play Williams instead of Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald would have run an obscene amount of yardage against them. Would not have been close.

There's no such thing as "situational football" when it comes to Mike Leach. He's going to do what he does no matter the circumstances. That's why they refer to him as the pirate.
