Oklahoma has an 80% Acceptance rate, GPA of 3.6 and SAT of 1210 on average. Tech has a 70% Acceptance rate, GPA of 3.6, and SAT of 1155 on average. OU has the larger endowment at $1.7B to $1.3B.

Both are decent schools but neither is an academic powerhouse or significantly better than the other. Tech has come a LONG way over the last 20 years and they have pumped a lot of money into the school and facilities especially.

Both of them rely on getting the kids from the strong Suburban HS's in Texas that didn't have the grades for Texas or A&M due to the stupid Top 10%/6% rules that penalize kids for going to highly competitive HS's. OU and Arkansas especially go after those kids hard and it is pretty easy to get in state tuition from Texas.

This is what I been saying the alliance is really for. They will divvy up the scraps. Then they will vote together to keep the playoff at 4 with each conference champ getting an automatic bid. Although I think the PAC adds 4 to get to 16. And the ACC adding only WVU shows that they will be forcing ND's hand to join or get left behind.

Dividing up the leftovers though, does that really make sense?

Why would any of these schools in the PAC, ACC or BIG want to decrease their share of the pie?

I can't really see 4 teams that would be worth that for the PAC.

I think they are going to want to see even conferences to justify their push for automatic bids for the 4 conference champs. The playoff money and expanded footprints will likely make up for any diluted revenue.
I can see the PAC adding the 2 mentioned and 1 or 2 of the remaining Texas schools.

I like Iowa St. and their fans, but why would the Big10 do that? Everyone is taking a pay cut to accept them and ku.
Same thing for k St. to the PAC, though maybe OkST can carry their weight?
Sounds like a centrally planned economy.

It probably should because these are the types of teams you will be playing every other Sat to try and make the playoff not just beating texas.
