Bama has the better front 7.

LSU has the better back 4.

Bama has the better OL.

Is that accurate? Based on watching the 2 teams, those are the noticeable differences IMO.

Yes. And their linebackers are way better than LSU's. We sort of get away with playing a ton of nickel to make up for that.

I edited to say front 7. Bama doesn't need a ton of depth on the DL because they run a 3 man front.

As a whole Bamas secondary is a touch better. We just don't have any super beast freaks like Matthieu.

I disagree. LSU has the better secondary IMO. UF was carving up Bamas secondary with Brantley. That wouldn't happen against LSU.

I don't see it. I think LSU will have an easier time passing on Alabama than y'all will passing on us.

FaiRly accurate. It was an uphill battle with Brantley but without him unless Charlie can come up with something to confuse Chavis and that def it will be a long game. I want to see how well LSU can handle Fla def lime assuming nome are hurt. It will be the first time we get to compare Bama and LSU against good competition. No one else has had a good DL to really measure against. FTR I am glad yall rotate off of our sched next yr

McCarron sucks. That's a given.

It probably wouldn't.

The only way you can pass on LSU consistently is by throwing quick passes non stop so the D-line can't get pressure. Just like West Virginia did. Throwing 60 times doesn't hurt either.

We gave it a good go but in the end were still too young and weak in key positions.

I do feel like UF will have a little more success running on LSU than we did against Bama. It still wont be enough though.

I think McCarron is better than given credit for. Most of the passes he missed were because the coverage was there. Yalls secondary is much better than advertised.

No doubt. I think he's going to be very good down the line.

LSU will still try to force him to beat them though. It'll be interesting to see if he can.

Here's how i'd break both teams matchups down

QB- Wash

Either qb could probably blow the game with what they're going against

RB- Bama

WR/TE- LSU. By a mile

OL- Bama

DL- LSU. Gap is narrowing as Alabama actually has a pass rush, but still LSU

LB- Bama. By a mile

DB- Wash. This is the matchup that seems to warrant the biggest evaluation. I see it like this. Claiborne > Dre. Menzie > T-Rex. Barron > Taylor/Reid. Loston > Lester. Completely even. It'll be more about the system on Nov 5th than the players because the players are a wash

Special teams -LSU

Epic game.

Probably, but that's because yall have a much better passing game. Not cuz you have better db's.

F we can't run the ball on yall we are doomed. But our defense should atleast keep us from getting embarrassed. McCarron is not ready to take a game over and win it. He is doing an admirable job for a first yr starter by not screwing up but even McElroy made some throws against LSU when he absolutely had to. McCarron had one really good throw against Fla this past weekend but several against Ark I thought but without much pressure

Mathieu isn't really a cover corner. He's pretty much a straight up nickel back.

Tharold Simon is our other cover corner. 6'3'' with great cover skills. This pretty much allows Mathieu to do whatever the frick he wants, which is why you always see him in the backfield.

And Loston rarely even plays. Taylor is extremely underrated at the safety position. I'd say he's by far the smartest player in the secondary. Reid is pretty much a heavy hitter. Even Ron Brooks plays over Loston.

I would give the Special Teams nod to LSU also. They now have a kicker that can kick it into the endzone on kickoffs and the punting game is great. Opposing teams have a negative punt return avg against them.

They adjusted and stopped that mess well before he got hurt.

I always thought McElroy got a bad wrap. Dude made some NFL throws from time to time.
