You can do that? Hmmm Bama needs to look into that.

Ohio State and Michigan and Notre Dame, same shite

I've always hated Notre Dame but they never actively dodged the southern teams like the Big10/Pac-10 did with their Doze Bowl bullshite.

After pondering the evidence (namely that the other claims are from teams I either dislike or don’t care about), I support this claim.

This is even more frivolous than Arkansas's 1964 claim.

1964 National Championship- While the AP did award the NC to Bama (10-1-0), Arkansas had the better record, 11-0. Alabama played Texas in their bowl and LOST. The AP final poll was before the bowl. By the way, Arkansas beat Texas that years.

Another underserved and unearned Bammer "championship".

You won the popularity contest held by the sports writers. You lost on the field where t counts.

I truly wish somebody would have told Alabama that if they lost their bowl game that year... that they were gonna take away their national championship. Would have made things a lot easier. And we wouldn't have posts like this one sixty years later.

Bowl games were not official games in 1964 and did not count. The national championships were awarded almost a full month before the bowl games.

People like you are fricking stupid and think the polls came out after the bowls. They didn't. This scenario where these teams played the bowl games, lost and were still awarded a national championship is nothing more than your ignorance of history.

So do yourself a favor and learn some basic college football history and how things actually worked rather than basing them on your fantasies.

No, you finished #2 in both the coaches and the AP.

Sorry.

but, they absolutely should claim 1946 (only unbeaten & untied team in the nation that season (11-0-0), yet ranked 2nd behind co-national champions Notre Dame (8-0-1) & Army (9-0-1), which tied in their game vs the other that year. Talk about regional bias in this one.

So basically 1966 Alabama?

That's almost exactly what happened to that team, with Notre Dame and Michigan State tying during their game (with ND playing for the tie specifically) and finished behind both of them.

I've always said if we were going to claim a title that otherwise we didn't win through traditional polls, it'd be 1966 and not 1941 (to this day I have no idea why we don't drop that one).

HRV, if you are trying to set up an insanity plea for whatever reason, I think you put out enough evidence in this post.

If I were AD for a day, the first thing I would do is remove 1941 from the list.
