Why? Even if he were successful, I would hate having that douche at my school aka Daniel Tosh

I think this is where this picture usually surfaces:

Ex-Mrs. Kiffin.. and why Kiffin may not be ready to head coach a big-time program yet.

Big-time college football requires head coach to be CEO, ambassador, representative of school, and not be a Harley-hog-rider with coed-on-back, public wool chaser. (not that there is anything wrong with it in theory...)

Kiffin lacks... gravity... an intangible that broadcasts authority and seriousness. He is a frat boy on spring break at heart. It could take 10 years to change... once a wool gatherer, always a wool gatherer.

Wait a minute. He took over a 5-7 UT team and won 7-6 and inspired the fan base to a point where they rioted when he left. He won 10 games and his division at USC under a bowl ban. And he's never had a losing season as HC in college.

Sure he hasn't lit the world on fire, but there are coaches with worse resumes currently head coaching in the SEC.

FWIW, I think he could kill it at A&M

I think this is a big year for Kiffin. He won't have a Heisman-caliber player on offense that he can lean on like he did Amari & Henry. If we are productive/efficient on offense this year, then he should have some really good options.

That's not who Jay Jacobs will hire. In the most Auburn move ever, his candidate list will look like this: Rhett Lashlee, Kevin Steele, Will Muschamp, Paul Rhoades, Bobby Petrino, etc.

Hated trooper, never was a huge fan of Terry, loved Dye when he was not senile.

What does any of that have to do with Kiffin being a douche? FWIW I hated him long before Bama; he exudes pompous asshat

Cost you guys against Ohio State last year and almost blew it again this year vs Clemson. If not for the onside kick and the Hail Mary I think Clemson wins. His daddy propped him up as long as he could, and he was fortunate to have been able to work under some great coaches.

Agree, but he was playing to win the game. It backfired because Blake made some bad throws and we didn't go back to Henry, but that was on Kiff.

You need to re-watch that game. If you don't get that hail mary down the right sideline and onside kick, you lose. And Kiffin wasn't doing anything to move the chains. Stupid play calling.

I attended the game and then re-watched it roughly 17 times.

Yea, because DeShaun Watson went straight up Vince Young for 3 quarters and Clemson scored 40 points.

Our average offensive line was having serious issues blocking their studs up front in the run and pass game. Kiffin got to halftime, literally drew up 3 new plays and 2 of them went for 2nd half touchdowns.

Did you watch the game? If not, let me refresh you on our 2nd half performance offensively, specifically the last 3 drives of the football game.

3 plays, 64 yards, TD
3 plays, -1 yards, Punt
5 plays, 20 yards, Punt
3 plays, 7 yards, Punt
8 plays, 64 yards, FG (tied game)
2 plays, 50 yards, TD (took lead)
8 plays, 75 yards, TD (iced game)

We had 279 yards of total offense in the 2nd half against the #10 defense in the country to win and then seal the national championship game.

But yea, he blew it. What a dunce.

Clemson is the #10 defense in the country because they play in the ACC, so save that shite. CLemson blows a coverage and Kiffin is a hero. LOL Then proceeds to go 3 and out, 5 and out, 3 and out to follow that in the 3rd quarter. What was he saving all the good plays he drew up at half for the 4th quarter?

Riding the running game probably results in a W, I agree. Saban has veto authority on things and could have put his foot down at any point and said "we're running it". he didn't, so you can't put the blame solely on the OC. Also, if players execute (even if that means throwing the ball away) then it's a non-issue.

quote:

If not for the onside kick

Yeah, but they got the onside kick. You could say "if not for" for any game and any team (including "if not for Bama saying 'screw it, Clemson. you can score, but just not too quickly" late in the 4th quarter of the title game). Also, the game was tied at the time of the onside kick. It's not a given who wins or loses with a deep kickoff.

quote:

the Hail Mary

I don't think you know what this is. A play design for a TE to break open down the right side line behind a defense that is expecting WR screen b/c you've run that 100 times in 2 years and have perfectly set up said play to TE, is NOT a Hail Mary. A Hail Mary is a desperate heave to the end zone into a crowd of defenders and WRs in hopes of something good happening. That didn't happen for either side in the Title Game.

quote:

His daddy propped him up as long as he could, and he was fortunate to have been able to work under some great coaches.

He's trading on his own resume at this point. He's produced at high levels as an OC. As a HC he wasn't ready for the NFL and shouldn't have gone (but who would've turned that down at 33?). He was successful at UT and they loved him right up until his dream offer came and he left them. At USCw he had success (28-15), but not enough. He took over a team depleted with scholarship reductions. I'd say he did well given the situation.

Oh, so now Clemson isn't good at defense? Were they good at offense?

8 play drive to tie the game
8 play drive to ice the game

Yep, that's it

Oh my gosh, we had a bad stretch against a good defense???? FIRE HIM NOW!

We had 322 yards and 21 pts through 3 quarters...............
