Here's the thing, if the Big 12 stayed together, even as it was after Colorado and Nebraska left, then we didn't need or want you.

However, it wasn't going to, and with it's collapse on the horizon, we needed to make and move and you were the best choice.

I didn't mind A&M coming to the SEC, knowing we may lose rivalry games, etc. I was actually a little excited about it.

But then "some" of you start bitching about us making fun of your traditions etc, admins tell us to be nice to you, and then "some" of you act we are getting such a great deal out of taking you.

That kinda pissed me off.

Understandable. It was inevitable that you guys were going to rip on our traditions. I get that and don't have a problem with it. I have simply tried to clarify on some of our traditions in other threads. Any Aggie contacting admins over it need to punch themselves in the junk and learn to deal. That isn't acceptable and I would be pissed too.

Addressing your other point, I fully agree that the SEC was happy the way it was. At the same time, I do think that the SEC admin has been of a mindset ever since the break up of the SWC that if they chose to expand A&M is a school they would want. In other words, I don't think we had to beg on our hands and knees to talk the SEC into it.

I also don't understand why getting a lot more money and enhanced recruiting in Texas isn't a good deal, assuming you don't lose a great deal of traditions in the process.

I think the main issue I have, and I'm sure the majority of Aggie posters as well, is that by saying "we didn't want or need you, and we aren't getting a great deal" implies that we are near worthless as a university, and that is far from the truth. Like SEC fans, we take great pride in our university, so we feel the need to respond to those kinds of comments.

But like I said, I understand you not liking what we bring if it comes at the cost of tradition and rivalries. Hopefully, Slive will figure this thing out and it won't come to that.

Finally a couple of you are getting it

Aggies...

Don't take stuff here personally. Most SEC fans are happy to have you. Most of us realize you are without a doubt the best fit for the SEC and you bring plenty to the table in what is going to be a mutually beneficial relationship. The SEC rant can be a strange/harsh place. Arky was still getting hazed/ripped last year and called a Big 12 team and told to GTFO. They finally got a certain measure of respect when they finally made it to NOLA. Right now, the piglets here are probably pretty happy the Ags are the new kid getting ripped. Still, most of us realize the advantages of having A&M as part of the SEC and see you guys as a no-brainer as #13.

Personally, I respect your traditions. I respect them because there is passion and history behind them (including and maybe especially the military ones). Passion is what counts and gets respect in the SEC. I know you guys may get annoyed that the corps gets so much exposure on tv, but frick it. If people are too lazy or stupid to understand there is a lot more to A&M than the corps, frick them too.

As to the rivalries and so forth...

I am confident Slive and the SEC will find a way to make things work. We will see. Hopefully bama keeps the UT game. However, there are two sides to every coin. AU gave up a great rivalry with UF and to a lesser extent UT. I'm ok with that and prefer Bama to keep the UT rivalry as opposed to AU renewing its two historical rivalries in the east when this is all said and done. However it works out, the SEC is a stronger and better conference with A&M.

I disagree that "we" did not want them. I strongly disagree and think the MAJORITY of SEC fans do want the Aggies. The SEC rant is not necessarily representative. It sometimes suffers from "group think" and people trying to act "cool" and unnecessarily "harsh".

This qualifies as one of those times.
