He swung for the fences. He just tried to cheat too much too fast.

It takes years to build a culture of cheating like Bama has where cheating is not only accepted but encouraged.

This is the main thing that got the heat on him, especially with tNCAA already on campus. Load up on some guys that are actually realistic for OM to get, have a couple 9-3/10-2 type seasons, then swing for the fences.

Oxford and Ole Miss actually have a lot to sell to recruits. It's not like he was at State rocking Top 5 classes. But yea, definitely things moved too fast.

Cheating or not, it brought too much attention and he couldn't handle the success or the criticism.

We hung on for so long probably in fear of what would be our next option. Can't blame us, we went from 2-10 to 2 New Years Six Bowls and 2 Top 5 recruiting classes in 5 short years. It sure was fun! Wouldn't change it.

But if he'd truly been swinging for the fences, he would have had left shark there along with Katie Perry.

It took the best class in the nation to get to 9 wins, I mean...but yeah, start small.

Ehh... It was a top 5 class with 3 out of state 5* guys. He should've concentrated on locking down the top talent in MS, then fanned out after a couple good seasons.

You're stupid. You crippled your FB program for a long time and your best accomplishment was a 9-3 season.

Anything you "accomplished" has an * by it.

Um, no. Alabama was only 3-2 against that hack and lost a few recruits to them.

I think you meant, "buy recruits", as well as commit academic fraud to get recruits.

Thankfully, State made it to #1 without having top 10 classes, and doing something called "player development".

State is 100x more desirable for a recruit right now. I'd send my kid to Starkville to play for Dan Mullin in a heartbeat. That's an honest man who knows how to develop talent. Starkvegas is pretty fun too, without all the pompous douchiness of oxford

Did oxford/ole miss do a lot of infrastructure investment to draw/handle higher enrollment due to yalls success? Especially out of staters. I ask as I'm wondering if in a few years we'll be seeing articles of residence halls being rent out to the public or turned in section 8 housing, etc etc

om is going to be screwed in more ways than way one, but good luck only worrying about Saturday's in the fall.

Stoops has it right. You just have to tie up Bama for a quarter and go from there.

I don't think you realize how bad OM football is going to be moving forward.

Trying to play the likes of Bama, Auburn, and LSU with 1/4 of your team being fielded by walk-on's.

On top of just being plain bad at football, your school will now also be assosisiated with cheating.
