(and yes, I'm including Clemson there)

I think it is both fair and obvious that Clemson's offense is not great.

It's definitely in the discussion. It's even more impressive than 2011 because of how the offense in the SEC has changed since then. It's proven you can still have a elite defense

They said this in 2019 too before the SEC title game...

They who? Because we didn't start this thread, and by and large we are saying it is early. A couple of guys are defending the statement with stats, and that is fair to do. But the comments you guys are getting upset about did not come from Georgia people. It would appear anybody can make a statement about Georgia and Georgia fans get tagged with that statement.

This thing is setting up great for UGA to finally win that big ole trophy.

UGA will be the living shite out of OU or Cincy

I think 2016’s defense was actually better than 2011’s because of the same logic. They faced many more dynamic offenses than 2011, and still finished out really well statistically despite losing at the very end

I kinda thought AU left some points on the field when they played. Seemed like it should have been more like 34-20

Logically and realistically nothign works to prove anything. Offenses have changed, opponents have changed.

I do remember watching the 2011 Alabama and LSU defenses and thinking nobody could ever touch those for being so dominant.

I guess it's fun to speculate, though.

I'm holding out on that til after SECG, playoffs & hopefully NC. If they can stay dominant thru all that, then yes they deserve a mention.

14 to that Arkansas team was a really good effort.

The only reason we didn't give up 14 to UK is because they missed the XPA. Granted, it did come on the last play from scrimmage in the game.

Adding the context of how much the game has swung in the offense's favor it really is damn impressive.

So far I would have to agree. Until now I would have said the Bama and LSU defenses in 2011 were right there but like you say. Take into account how the game has swung to the offense with the no huddle hurry up and constant attack attack attack by offenses. Not to mention how the officials allow offensive lineman to go much further down field and block without calling a penalty makes spread teams nearly unstoppable at least until this Georgia defense.

I am not quite there yet. They are very good, and may very well be the best, at least in a long while. If they continue as they are playing now, I will be in n board 100%

Bama has had some REALLY good ones, but this UGA defense is unmatched.

You must be a youngin'. Bama's 1992 and 2011 teams had the best defense I've seen.

GA looks great though. Their D might finish top 10 all time.

1. You are an alter
2. This UGA defense is good but they haven’t played a single high powered offense. They really lucked out with their west games and Clemson being in a rebuild year.
3. Mark it down, they will get torched in the SEC championship and again in the first round of the playoffs.
