A defense facing Cam Newton has to know that it is almost a given that the Auburn Tigers quarterback will gain yards on the ground. He is just too big and too strong for a defense to completely shut his ground attack down. But when Newton drops back to pass, defensive coordinators have to be smart if their team wants to slow down the Heisman candidate. On Saturday, the Arkansas Razorbacks defense played right into Newton’s hands, trying to stop him by sending extra pass rushers.

yea we did. the secret to stopping cam is keeping him contained in the pocket and then making him read the coverage.

i said this on the game week, that we needed to go back to last years defense to stop it. we blitz more because we have gotten better, the secret to beating gus is a disciplined zone defense.

I was screaming for Ark to stop sending the LBs on almost every play. If the blitz doesnt get him then there is NOBODY left to tackle him and he runs 30 yards before he gets touched.

I couldnt believe we continued to do it over and over. It clearly wasnt working.

sure maybe he can, actually i bet he can't since he has never been in a system that makes him do it unless they did at blinn. Gus reads the defense and signals, meyer does the same at florida. I would rather make him read a complex zone cover than make it obvious he can run 5 yds a pop.

We will blitz, play man, zone whatever we want b/c WE are LSU!!! Go back and watch all of your games you have NO defense... at all none!!! How many National champs had a high flyin offense, say like an aurburn, texas, okalahoma, oregan etc.???? None....Why? b/c defense wins championships not that trick as offense, with a good runner and a passer that floats his long ball that will get eat up and returned for a TD against us....We will bang your boy up, yall lose to US, uga, and bama....

absolutely.

his throwing is like the fricking elephant in the room, nobody wants to talk about it. All you'll hear is "he is 2nd in the nation in passing efficiency"
