UT’s President is a retired Navy Seal commander and aTm’s President is a career politician. Spare us the holier than though attitude when it comes to UT.

him... Here's A twist, name 2 schools that have never been competitive in the SEC that would thrive in a different P-5 Conference....

From 2011-2013 SC would’ve won 3 straight ACC titles in a row and had multiple BCS berths. Would’ve won the ACC title in 1984 too. Basically we’d be a 6x conference champ instead of 1

Some might argue Texas A&M would be a good addition to the SEC, but even the Heavens Gate people think aTm is weird.

Well Utx was in the old SIAA but left when they were not the lead dog.

Could have been a charter SEC school but to dumb to see what they lost. Now they are stuck in the Nutless Nine and living off glory years from the 1960's and DKR. Christ, even Tenner is not that slow.

Aggies are very strong at towing the line. They've got their UT propaganda down pat.

Big picture, I can see conference realignment in the future. I think the future is that conferences will try and put together national conferences for maximum market value. Gone forever, are the quaint, regional conferences where everyone knew each other like the ACC in the 1950s-1980s. Also, I can see conferences raiding other conferences for teams once the grant of rights contracts end. Here’s what I know:

Teams that will never join the SEC due to hostile administrations:
UVA
UNC
Duke. - when things look dicey for the ACC in 2012 I asked a friend who is a Member of the UNC Board of Trustees about the possibility of UNC joining the SEC - he said “never”, that if the ACC fell apart the Big would be UNC’s landing spot.
GT - it’s a different school that exited in the 1960s when it left the SEC

Teams that might be receptive to joining the SEC (regrettably)

FSU - ACC needs to improve revenue and continue the improvement of the conference in football (thank you Tigers) or FSU might listen to an SEC offer.

VT/NCSU - Like A&M and UT, many of the NCSU faithful want out of the ACC and out of the shadow of UNC and to a lesser extent Duke and UVA. Their fan base is more SEC like. NCSU is a Big Four school but lacks the clout of UNC/Duke/UVA - which currently run the conference. Same for VT but to a lesser extent.

Miami - I have no idea.

Gen. McRaven is chancellor of the UT system. Semantics. aTm is still lead by a career politician. No aTm person would admit that it chaps their arse like it really does. Jealousy is a bad trait.

Admiral?

He retired.

Saying UT is anti military is ridiculous. The University of Texas has done more for this country than any university in the state.

It is their little brother complex.
UT is racist, KKK members who have buildings name after Confederate leaders

But
UT are a bunch of dildo waving socialist.

Truth is UT has people from all walks of life.
aggy uses anything they can and base their attacks on the auidence.

McRaven is a retired admiral and he's no longer UT System chancellor. He has been replaced by James Milliken.

Can you imagine how retardedly difficult it would be to win your division in college football let alone win the SEC and still make it to the playoffs?

ACC and SEC are in bed together and the ACC is not getting raided. Even if they did, UNC is not getting donor dollars excited by a move to the B1G and they sure are not trotting off to the B1G and leaving NC State a slot in the SEC where SEC recruiting will take over the state and B1G recruiting will wither on the vine. Nobody wants to pull the trigger on giving up the state to your little brother.

I know the B1G talks research dollars and this is valid except nobody doing broadcast rights give two sh*ts about academics when eyeballs are what makes the advertisers happy. PAC has research dollars but they are smart enough to add schools folks want to see on TV which is why they wanted Oklahoma and not Oklahoma State.

Nebraska has failed as a B1G member
Rutgers and Maryland have allowed Michigan and Ohio State to raid their recruits

B1G is all about Michigan and Ohio State football and UNC is not getting in there
B1G is not about baseball and the ACC is

How much of the donations disappear if....
Florida State no longer plays Florida
Clemson no longer plays South Carolina
Georgia Tech no longer plays Georgia
Louisville no longer plays Kentucky

While research dollars dwarf entertainment dollars, you don't fill venues with research. If this was true, University of Chicago would still be playing in the B1G and not in the Nerdy Nine in Division III

Quit playing mental masturbation with yourself and think of realignment in cold hard economic and audience factors. UNC is not going to the B1G where they would have to be second fiddle just like Utx is not going to the SEC for the same reason. The day I believe UNC is splitting the sheets for the B1G is the day they say they are no longer joined at the hip with ESPN.
