Drinkwitz has benefitted from no big pressure and relatively easy SEC schedules and a down SEC East before that. No different than when Mark Stoops had his nice run at KY.

Yes I know. Shitty AD’s are a reason lots of schools screw up the hiring process. I’m just saying it isn’t some foreign concept. Fans at UF have a right to be pissed. At least y’all got basketball hire correct
Thanks to Billy Donovan

I do think there's a chance lane leaves for Florida or lsu, but do have to ask why Florida fans aren't pushing for Jess Fischer. He seems to be successful everywhere he goes and is a Florida alum.
That said, I do think anyone who ends up with Sumrall or Golesh will be happy. Both good young coaches that I don't think will be intimated by a big job

Franklin or the Mad Russian might be the top of the available market.
For me, I think Drink is a good HC. He's done very well @ Mizzou although they (and OM) have benefited from an easier schedule recently.
I dont see why he would leave for UF though. He has no connections there and is doing fine where he is. Maybe he would leave for AU or another job.
I'd be ok with Golesh, Franklin or Fisch.
Franklin would need to bring in a top OC though. Maybe Kade Bell from Pitt who is the son of former Gator QB Kerwin Bell. That would make some Gator fans feel better.
I think many of them are worried about the optics of hiring PSU's fired coach.
Which I dont care about that.
If he comes in understanding he needs to bring an exciting, dynamic offense I'd be good with it if Kiffin says NO.
I like Golesh too because of his offense, toughness he instills in his team and he's already familiar and liked within the state by recruits.
They let Josh Huepel get out of the state, here's a shot at another one from USF/UCF.
Fisch needs to win out and create a little more buzz out there on the west coast I guess. He doesn't get talked about much. He lost to OSU and MICH already. He will have a shot at Oregon later in the season. If he can at least give Oregon a good game and win all of the others that may help his case at 9-3. A win over Oregon with a 10-2 finish would probably have him as the top candidate behind LK.
Any of these would be a serious upgrade over Napier and the other clowns that we've had.

I wouldn't mind Fisch if we don't get Kiffin. Not sure if he has a crazy buyout or not though which I wouldn't spend a crazy amount on that with him though.

Not big on Golesh
I understand the trepidation to certain extent, but the dude checks a lot of the boxes we'd like. He's a well known good recruiter, he has high level SEC coordinator experience, he runs a dynamic and exciting offense that kids would want to play in, and he's built from scratch a COMPLETELY dead USF football program, and he did it literally over night. Besides Lane, he's the other guy that I think could, in short order, get this thing back up and running.

It's weird to me too but It could be that the fanbase is pissed off and tired of the BS and won't someone exciting and who can get things turned around quickly.
However, I think if Fisch had stayed at Zona he would've had 1-2 more years with his QB and top WRs, would be a bigger name and probably made the playoffs by now
I'm not sure why many are not that interested in him. They were more interested his final year @ Zona it seems. UW was/is a rebuild so not sure what they are expecting. He is 6-2 I believe, if he gives Oregon a great game and wins the other games he may get more buzz. Not sure.

I see Fisch has a 12 million dollar buyout so I don't see us paying that to get him.

If Lane says no, many UF fans will warm up to Golesh and Fisch really quick IMO. Like someone said earlier, there's not much out there available on the market.

Fisch's buyout is $10MM and this is why James Franklin's name will be on that list if Kiffin says no.
If SS can get JF without a buyout after missing on who the fanbase and boosters wanted, I dont see him passing up that deal.
If Franklin brings someone like Kade Bell as OC and his OL coach from PSU (former UF OL UF Phil Trautwein) That may improve the optics for some of them.
Take that money saved on that buyout and put most of it into NIL.
Hope they dont wait too long, I think Maryland and VT may be interested in JF.

Yep I don't see any way we pay Fisch big money and pay his 12 million buyout. Maybe it drops just a little after the season ends but still don't see it.

I have to admit that it is surprising how Drink is the frontrunner.
He may be the most accomplished candidate, I suppose.
Has Spurrier chimed in on this subject?

Spurrier has name dropped 2 coaches...Kiffin and Drink.
He said he will stay out of it unless they ask him for his advice or opinion.

I would be happy with Kiff, Golesh, or Fisch. Just do not want Dink or Franklin.
