Maybe it creeps her out that random fans know where she shopped for groceries 10-11 years ago. Who wouldn't want to move back to that kind of environment

That's not what your post says.

What's so hard to understand here? 1. Starkville is the end all be all of college football. 2. Miss st is a better job than Florida. Both these statements have came from people in this very thread. I'm not speaking Chinese here, I don't understand what's so hard to comprehend.
Nobody is saying any of this.
Mullen has no interest in Florida.
Florida has no interest in Mullen.
All of this talk is lazy speculation. Mullen will never coach at Florida and the feeling is mutual on both sides.

I believe that Mullen really does love State and Starkvegas, but he is also a competitor. With his recruiting chops, defense, and QB development, he could probably accomplish some really impressive things at a school like UF. State is never going to have that kind of pull.

Stop being obtuse. It's clearly what my post says. If Florida wants merlins, he's out. Plain and simple. Keep thinking that miss state is a better job than Florida.

Dan is doing pretty damn good at MSU. He is paid over $4 million and doesn't have the constant pressure and stress of winning championships. I don't think he's leaving unless Florida makes a crazy offer.

really?

The reasons Mullen might not take it have already been covered.

I'm obtuse? Florida doesn't want Mullen. Mullen doesn't want Florida. It's not an opinion.
I don't know why you gotta brush aside facts to take a swipe at Mississippi State. Maybe it makes you feel better having watched your Horns underperform for the last decade. Maybe you still have long memories of Jackie Sherrill whipping that arse after giving the team a visual lesson on what a steer is. Lucky for you State hasn't been on your schedule.

People like us (dudes on message boards) are the kinds that go "why would you leave somewhere you like to go to a grinder like UF" or "I'd stay in Starkville where I'm building something and creating my own legacy."
Absurdly competitive psychopaths (pro athletes, coaches, CEOs, etc.) do not do that very often. Exceptions? Sure. But most coaches are going to jump at the chance to make more money on a bigger stage at a much bigger job.
That's what UF is - a much bigger job.
Maybe they don't want Mullin, maybe Mullin has his own reasons for not wanting to go to UF. But the ones talked about in this thread (build his own legacy, loves Starkville too much) just turn out to be bullshite 99% of the time.

Not being obtuse. Your post said the opposite of that. Also, I never said UF wasn't a better job. I mean, I'd rather be in Starkville, but objectively it's a better job.

Scott is the AD. He and Dan built something great at MSU. If UF doesn't hire Dan then it will be because he is happy where he is. Maybe he wants to go the Frank Beamer/Bill Schneider/Gary Patterson route as opposed to the Jim McElwain/Butch Jones route.
I would say everything you said above is true as long as you switched out "UF" with "Anyone". UF might want Frost or Kelly more and get them. Strickland's relationship with Mullen hurts him perception wise because it would appear he didn't know anyone or did a half-arse search if Mullen were to not succeed. UT and UCLA will come after Mullen too and if he stays you are right, he chose to retire at MSU. And that would halfway be believable if he didn't just hire Jimmy Sexton.
It comes down to does Mullen want to retire at State or not. If he doesn't then he jumps because it will be hard to replicate the combination of open jobs and hot name he has going for him right now. It wont be about money. It will simply be does he want to retire in Starkville. He's got it pretty good there and had he not hired Sexton, I would believe State has a good shot at holding on to him.

People who say this are speculating. I'm not saying this. What I am saying is that he'll never be the coach at Florida, regardless of how he feels about Starkville, because of how he feels about Florida. And the feeling is mutual.
It's MULLEN, by the way.

Personally, I don't think Dan gives a crap about where he coaches. He's so immersed that he doesn't think about much else. I don't think Mrs Mullen wants to go to UF, at all.
