Do CFB just come back like normal next year?

The Sark raise has me thinking. I know today was just a formality of a contract already agreed but passing out raises now seems crazy.

They just can’t miss a year of games and pickup next summer like 2020 never happened.

The financial impact will be too big.

I see some schools already asking to keep your donations even if you don’t get tickets. I think the universities have a rude awakening coming. The alumni and fans they have squeezed for so many years won’t be too generous.

What impact will missing this season have on the sport overall?

I think they make every effort to play but in the end it does not happen.

It’s a bubble.

For many years big time football costs have out paced inflation.

Football is not a necessity.
It is entertainment.
It is not water or food.
It is not shelter or clothing.

The head coaches have big salaries, but the hidden costs of administration of these athletic. Departments is amazing.

Dozens of assistant Vice President for compliance, diviersity, etc.
Colleges are bloated with administrative manager positions.
Not just the athletic departments are in for an adjustment.
If online is good for 2020, why pay $20,000 to $50,000 a year for college?

College revenues are due for a correction.

I hope you're right. But - there's always a "but". The game still needs rules and someone with the power to monitor & enforce the rules and authority to meet-out punishment when necessary. Maybe a Commissioner? But what about other college sports? *BIG JOB* REplacing the NCAA will be difficult unless colleges decouple Football from all other sports.

I am probably in the minority here but I think we will see some big changes going forward in college football and big time college sports as a whole. I think them changes were some coming anyway. But the current state of affairs have just sped it up. We can debate what the changes will look like but make no mistake they are coming.

Sports and movies are both about to experience a big change.

I think we've already seen the future of movies, lots of would-be epics will be premium-channel series instead. Scale back the initial cost, expand the storyline, stream to house instead of release in theater.

Sports gonna be some version of that, too; obviously this pushes a lot more to watching on TV instead of in person. Probably going to downsize what they can.

The Power 5 will be fine going forward no matter what. The other lesser conferences will likely struggle.

I actually like the idea of just playing a 10 game conference schedule and maybe two OOC but also Power 5 teams each year.

I think the bigger issues is the G5 programs are going to go under except for the bigger ones like Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF, etc.
