NCAA has already stated if a campus is not open to every student then no scholarship athletics for that campus.
It's really simple.
If students are not on campus, there will be no students who also play sports on campus.
A University does not exist simply to provide sports revenue. It exists to train students. If they don't allow traditional students on campus, does anyone expect them to ignore the "safety" of revenue generating students? How well would that go over?
Why is this hard to understand?

Well... if there are no students on campus and only athletes making their program money, are they really student athletes?

Football would be safer without all students on campus, so it is the dumbest saying that gets said way too often.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Most media was incredulous when Auburn fired Chizik just a few short years from winning a Natty. While they focused on his last season of abysmal football, they failed to delve into the extreme pressure from the the community business leaders. The City of Auburn was getting crushed financially due to the lack of fans showing up to watch that shitshow. $$$$$ is a HUGE influence on decisions, COVID is not immune to that fact. Take away the tax base that small towns with large fansbases have, and you will see an economic impact that will take years to recover from.
