I'm not sure of when they're going to win it again. Things line up pretty much perfectly for them, Florida is an unknown and Georgia is a season away from really being able to do damage. The mid level teams that could surprise and win the SEC East are down.

The only thing that's in the way for Tennessee is themselves.

Almost certainly after another new coach is hired.

It's all,a smokescreen. CBJ was only hired to recruit a few good players and right the ship. Gruden's coming.

Or you know something could happen, we could lose, and then win the following year. CFB is unpredictable. The best team doesn't always win and surprise teams happen every year. Odds favor us now but really we should've won a natty in 97 or even 99 not really 98 as good as it was.

It's rather silly to say if not now then never when this is the first season we're expected to be back in form and we're stacked for years to come.

That said, I fully expect great things from this team.

Tennessee has more than enough talent. But Butch just isnt a very good head coach.

If they don't win the East its down. If they win the East its the greatest division ever.

This is how this works

If they don't win it this year, Butch is gone.

Its really that simple. Any Tennessee fan would probably say the same thing.

It's not that simple.

He could go 10-2, beat Bama and UF, and not win the east and be perfectly fine.

I can't see that happening.

Where are the 2 losses then? Georgia and A&M?

I think UGA will be a top 3 team in 2017, but this year they will still be figuring things out.

UF has more unknown at this point than both Tennessee and Georgia, but like UGA, I think UF will be very good next year.

Cocky, Vandy, and Mizzou are in total rebuild mode.

That leaves UK. Possible sleeper if they can be consistent on offense, but thats a big if.

Could very easily lose at UGA and possibly another (don't think it will be aTm but it could be a trap game)

VOLS will beat UK by 50+ at home.

Just think it's way too early in the year to suggest such radical hypotheticals. Hell if Maggitt doesn't go down injured last season, we beat Oklahoma and probably go on to not lose to UF or Arkansas.

Just like this upcoming season, we are one season ending injury to Dobbs, or JRM, or Kirkland, or Barnett from possibly dropping a game or two that we shouldn't and not winning the east.

Of course injuries are a big part, but I just don't see Butch surviving this year, if Tennessee doesn't win it, provided everyone stays healthy.

Next year Tennessee will lose both Dobbs and Hurd, along with key players on defense, and the schedule will obviously be tougher with trips to both Gainesville and Tuscaloosa.

If we are able to stay healthy, especially on the oline, and aren't able to beat either UF or Bama, and don't win the east, then I could possibly see a scenario where he's canned. unlikely though, I think he'd have to win less games than last year for that to be a real possibility.

I do however think that scenario would make his seat incredibly hot going into 2017. We'll have a new AD who very well could want to bring in his own guy, especially if Butch is underachieving relative to the talent he has at his disposal.

I remember the Vol fans on here before they beat UGA last year were not happy with Butch to say the least. Hell the poor guys family was getting threats. The east looks like it is theirs for the taking this year. However high predictions bring great expectations especially for a once proud program that hasn't done much in 10 years.

well no shite, throwing away two games against Oklahoma and Florida, and coming out flat against Arkansas isn't exactly a good start to the season.
