If SEC goes to 9 conf games

Why not give each team two permanent interdivision series, with the 3rd game rotating? This was what was done before 2003, eg LSU had Florida and UK as permanent opponents. That way Alabama could keep their Auburn and Tennessee rivalries and we wouldn't have the absurdity of Mizzou being in the East.

Can Auburn get both Georgia and Florida like before?
Or are we moving them to the east?

Or are we moving them to the east?

Because it would take too long to play everyone home and home.
They're going to 9 games, with 1 permanent opponent.

Then you still run into the problem of only playing your non-rival cross-divisional opponents once every five years.
If you make that ninth game just another rotating cross-divisional, you play those teams once out of every three years (much better).

If the SEC goes to 9 conference games, they need to move the start of the season back one week to allow two byes.
And in all honesty, I wouldn't be opposed to every team being off the same two weekends. It would suck not having SEC football those two Saturdays, but it would at least level the playing field a little bit in regards to the strength of the conference. Play 4 games, bye, play 4 games, bye, play 4 games, SECC and then off till the bowl game.

Yeah i would prefer if LSU got Florida and UK again lol, but the Auburn series has been pretty good over the years so it would suck if it ended.

That wouldn't be a fair draw.

9 games could start the downfall of the SEC.

Auburn isn't moving to the East, by the way.

Jay Jacobs is still working on that.

They need to. I'm putting my considerable weight behind this initiative.

I THINK (not sure, so don't hold me to it) Greg McGarity has mentioned that Mizzou would be in the east and that we will have 9 conference games.
Soooo we will keep AU permanently and UA will keep UT.

No they don't.
Put Missouri to the East. It's the easiest thing to do. They're relatively close to Kentucky, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt.
Putting them in the West would require the SEC to move to 2 permanent rivalries, which would kill the scheduling in the conference.

So Mizzou vs Florida and Georgia as division game makes sense? Maybe they should make north and south divisions.

If you play six divisional games, two permanent and one rotating that means there would be four teams where you would have an eight year gap in between playing them, right?
8 years is a long time to go without playing a team. Imagine a East team not having to play LSU these past 8 years. Quite an advantage.
A perm. opponent is fine to preserve a rivalry but two just creates schedule inequities. Between 1992-2002, Auburn had to play Florida (arguably the best program in the country during that span) every year while Bama got to play Vandy (one of the worst).

Sure. They wanted to be in this conference. Now they're in.
9-game conference schedule, 1 permanent rivalry, A&M in the West, Missouri in the East.
Simple.

Why is Mizzou in the East an absurdity?
They share a common border with Tennessee and Kentucky.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

LSU fans felt your pain in that period
