texas has used the avoidance policy to keep them from getting embarassed by the SEC in the postseason, either that or they just arent as good as nothern iowa. both are pretty believable imo

Avoidance policy? Texas can't even get to the "post season". I assure you they aren't throwing regular season games just to avoid the SEC.

It would be fun for both UT Austin and OU to play LSU and Arkansas in football. Those would be awesome games. Arkansas for the history and LSU for just being drunken insane close-to-NOLA LSU. And there are lots of LSU and Arky grads in Texas.
These schools would all have a rivalry that wouldn't have anything to do with the deep south that anchors the SEC.
That to me is the only thing that the Big12/SEC conference alignment fricks up. Baseball, not a big deal. Basketball, not a big deal.
But I don't think that is enough to get OU or Texas to want to go to the SEC or for the SEC to want to screw up their current conference mix.

This is where good OOC scheduling can make these games happen. I think LSU has both OU and tu on the books for a home and home. And doesn't tu still owe Arkansas a game in Fayetteville?
Have OU and Arkansas ever played each other outside of a bowl game? If so, it's been a while.
I like how we are currently rotating OOC series' with PAC-12 and ACC schools. Probably isn't much upside for anyone for us to play a XII school OOC right now until we've put some time and distance between us and the XII.

At A&M the students tickets are subsidized. I'm not saying every student attends at least one game, but the majority likely do, and I think it will continue to build interest in the later years of many of their lives and never see A&M football with a weak yearly turnout in attendance as other schools may.

I guess some folks don't realize OU already wasted their chance to realign with A&M. It would have been fun/insane to have them on the schedule again with all the others, but even their history won't get them another invite.
