i think if they still had division in the big 10 and SEC that would be true, but since it’s already the top 2 teams they are gonna punish either for losing a game.

Ole Miss should go over a 3 loss 8 overtime Georgia team.

They will be punished by having to play an extra game in the first round so it’s still fair with the SEC and B1G, but the ACC, B1G, and MWC are jokes.
This is the biggest issue I have. UGA/TX will have come off of beating the hell out of each other, and one of those teams will likely have to turn around and play a first round game while teams that didn't make the CG but make the playoff rest up, watch the show, and get ready to play a first round game. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

That’s the price you pay for going to the CCG. For some teams like Clemson, it’s a savior game. For teams like Texas/Georgia, it’s a game for hardware with a possible penalty of having to play an extra game. The only way to change it is to go back to the old days before CCGs and add an extra round with 16 teams. Name conference champs or co-conference champs based on conference records.

That is fair if you have to play Tennessee or Alabama and win that game.
If you fricks hadn't lost to Florida you would be playing in that game and Georgia would be sitting at home watching and in the playoffs already.
I think that is the reason your pussy coached tanked against Florida. He knew he couldn't win the SECCG and might back door his way in.
And don't @ me your coach said it would be better to not play in it.

If this is truly the case they should just auto bid the top 2 and not bother with the title games.
Maybe feed the polls and the strength of schedule table into a computer and have it rank them?

I agree. You could go even further and have a part of it be a computer generated element based on an aggregate of all the polls including Sagrin which leans on SOS. Then the other part could be a combo of the most prevalent human polls. Calculate all that via the formula and it would generate a fair ranking.
We could call it something like... bowl calculation system or BCS for short. Yeah, that's the ticket

Tell me when a team sitting at home on conference championship weekend jumped a conference championship game loser when the loser was 1/ ranked higher prior to the game.
eta - I think SMU is screwed. But I dont think any SEC team sitting at home is jumping UGA when they lose Saturday.

But if Georgia loses, do they get the same criticism as the other 3 loss teams in the SEC?
Georgia already has 10 wins.
So, 10-3 versus 9-3 should do it.

I keep hearing this, it has to be bullshite.
The committee head said last week they are not gonna stop adjusting and nobody has asked them to (regarding conf championships).

The odds on this game are Georgia +1.5
If Texas plays like they did against aTm, Georgia will win.

We'll be punished. Lower seed than if we hadn't played. Same for Texas if they lose. Neither will fall out of the playoff though.

I wasn’t replying to you directly, you were just the last post in the thread but to answer the question no. Georgia was solidly in at the end of the regular season. In that case, the loss will hurt seeding but not get you kicked out. Bubble teams or teams that weren’t getting in without winning their title game are a different matter.
IMO really have to bring the same mindset to football now that you have with hoops in March. Georgia has a playoff resume no matter what happens Saturday. The three bubble SEC teams have good (not great) resumes but some will get left out because less deserving teams steal automatic bids - just like happens every March.

I'd bet every penny to my name that Kirby Smart would be fine with Texas being SEC champions and skipping this game.
Easy to say when you are you and for any SEC fans pre-Texas teams (aka poor).

I don’t think Bama would beat SMU if they played tomorrow. Let that reality sink in. Oof.

I can't guarantee that Kirby wouldn't eat up yet another disrespect card to be played.

Maybe not. It depends on which Bama shows up.
If they beat Clemson Saturday, maybe we’ll get to find out.
