I haven't sensed this much fear from Auburn in a long time.

Afraid of losing to UGA again and finally getting rid of Gus?

Usually yes, but their running game has been disgusting against everyone but UGA this year, averaging 301 rush yards per game including the UGA game when they had 55. They took their foot off the gas at halftime against MSU and won 38-18. I think they'll beat USC in a few weeks.

ETA: The most encouraging thing from that game was holding Wimbush to 16 carries for 1 yard after watching scrambling QBs destroy us for years.

I'm not scared of UGA. Auburn has a defense better than any UGA will face and any time Auburn has had a decent offense they have ran all over Smart's Defenses.

Does that mean Auburn will win? Idk but I like our chances.

Define "decent" and "ran all over".

Because if JS continues to improve he will easily throw all over his defense. It will make the record day Nick Marshall had against him passing look like nothing and he had better DBs at Bama.

Athletically and schematically yes....mentally is the question. Give the exact same team (Bama) in a parallel universe but put them in Nashville with Vandy uniforms on and the answer is yes......but here in the real world beating Alabama ain't just about athletes and coaching the mental aspect of killing a giant is a huge part of the equation. The worse beatings....about the only beatings .....Bama has suffered during this run have been from teams outside the conference....I know there have been a few in the conference but Clemson and Oklahoma and the likes just don't have the same skewed vision as sec teams do with Bama. Coaches get fired here because they can't keep up....that is a mind frick...

Georgia threw an interception against UT....and over came...those kinds of mistakes are magnified against Bama when you are already questioning your ability to hang in there....

A$M wasn't as susceptible to the Bama mystique....

Auburn has beat them before when they shouldn't have.....thus they aren't as effected....they can't afford to be....

Ole Miss is by far the most impressive....they too, though, have beaten Bama before and aren't as mentally fricked as most of the SEC is....Tennessee is in the same boat....given anywhere near the same athletes and solid coaching UT would hang with Bama more often than not.....LSU has had as good or better athletes, they can't get it done....1990 s Florida wouldn't give 2 Rats asses about Bama and their mystique....they have won about half the time...UGA will have to overcome a massive mind frick should we make it that far.....

The mentally tough aspect of CFb is huge...and Bama is not only mentally tough they cause other teams, especially in the SEC, to question themselves...and that leads to all sorts of problems.

Georgia is a very improved football team, especially on defense, but I don’t think they have the depth to play with Alabama. They need a couple of more years of top 5 recruiting to get there. Alabama would shut their running game down, and make the QB beat them. I don’t think he can.

Unpopular opinion alert:

Georgia's best shot to beat Alabama would be if Eason comes back and plays to his potential. He's got the requisite arm strength to hit throws in tight windows that you have to throw to beat Alabama. He also has the arm to stretch the field to keep a defense like Alabama honest. I loved Aaron Murray, and have always defended him on this board and thought he was a criminally underrated QB, but his underthrow of Conley on that deep ball late in the second quarter was a big turning point in the 2012 SECCG. Murray didn't quite have the arm to get it there. A stronger arm gets Conley for a TD. Instead, Clinton-Dix was just barely able to pick it off. It's stuff like that that makes the difference against Alabama.

I told someone yesterday that Fromm could get us to Alabama but Eason playing at his full potential could beat them, similar to the way Mettenberger put LSU in position to beat them in 2012.

Unless you have Deshaun Watson, this is your best shot.

He did, but he didnt put enough air under it on this play. Thats the same thing Eason does on his deep throws, so its funny to see you advocate for him when its Fromm who has the touch you wanted out of Murray on that play. Our best shot is if he continues to grow into the position, and the OL improves too. Eason doesnt have the feet or accuracy to be better than Fromm.

Honestly, the problem with the SEC being a suckfest outside of a few teams is that we don't know how good the top three teams really are versus the level of competition.

Is Alabama really that dominant, or is tSEC really that bad? Jury is still out IMO.

A pro style team will never beat Alabama again as long as Saban is there.

yep. We have always been built to stop that style of play and we usually don't only stop it but shut it down completely.

Marshall was a mobile qb that could beat you with his legs. Given pressure, your current qb hasn't been good. UGA is going to kick Auburn's arse.
