I guess Les Miles could make an argument if LSU goes undefeated, but seriously, given UF's limitations this year especially on the OL, if UF beats Georgia and basically wraps up the East after 8 games, does Mac win the SEC Coach of the Year award?

And if UGA somehow beats Florida, and wraps up the east, does Richt win it? or Does Mac get it regardless of winning the east if he ends up 6-2 in the Sec this year and 2nd in the east?

Yes. To do what he's done with no OL at all, a back up QB, one decent RB and only two good WRs is amazing.

He wins it unless they have an epic meltdown in November

When we win the East, he should be strongly considered.

Depends on how things finish up in the west, but McElwain deserves it if he wins the East. I know it's not a strong division right now, but to do that in your first year with your QB suspended for the last half of the season would be remarkable.

If he wins the East with what he had to work with, then yes.

you guess?

I see what you're saying, and Mac is the man. What he's done with y'all in 1 year is astounding. But if LSU goes undefeated then Miles is a no brainer for the award.

This.

I think he's already won it barring a serious tank job.

Probably so, but others would still have a chance:

Les, if LSU goes unbeaten (but still 3 tough tests in front of LSU).

I don't think it will happen, but what if LSU beats Bama, and A&M somehow beats Ole Miss and LSU to win the West. The media would be all over Sumlin.

Still a lot of football left to play, but I would have to say Mac is a solid favorite at this point.

Even if LSU goes undefeated and Mac goes (at worst) 10-2, Mac would win it. Mac is pretty much a shoe in for National Coach of the Year, so SEC COTY shouldn't even be a debate

Yes.

I think he should be considered for COTY even if he loses to Georgia.
