I think it’s fairly simple. No one believes he’s a top 10 head coach or could lead a program to a national championship. Lsu settles in him when their AD failed to land any of their top several targets. However, he’s done well enough to not get fired so Lsu was forced to accept mediocrity and extend him. I think they’re poised to have a big year so he’ll stay on the hot seat for a while and regress back to what he is.
