I do find it hilarious that people keep saying he is just going to win it because he plays for Bama. Saban has had 4 other guys make it to NYC and only one of them actually won the damn thing.
The fact that AJ McCarron was even invited should tell you something

This isn't about McCaffery it is penis envy from an Ole Miss fan.

Henry has around 65 some odd more carries than LF7 but yet only out rushes him in total yards by 245yrds
How many carries and yards did each get against cupcake teams? We should probably look at common opponents.

Either Fournette and Henry are really good or the run defense in the SEC sucks because to have 2 RB's near Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson is unheard of.
this is something everyone wants to ignore. Fournette and Henry are both great players, but to have two players likely surpassing the record in the same year and to have another back likely to surpass 1500 rushing yards probably says a lot about the strength of the SEC this year comparative to others. Ole Miss being an at large selection for the Sugar Bowl with 3 losses should tell you a lot about the strength of the SEC this year too.

That's actually proof that it goes to Big Ten, Notre Dame or USC if they have a half decent player to prop up.

You've got a point. AJ's season statistics didn't warrant his being invited to New York. The Heisman has become a way to give an honorable mention to players for career achievements which is not what it is supposed to be about.
That said, being invited and winning the Heisman are two different things. Henry was invited because he ran through the SEC like a hot knife through butter.

It very rarely goes to the BEST player. It goes to the best player on the BEST team. I'll give you some examples.
Vinnie Testerverde over Gordie Lockbaum-
Lockbaum played both ways, led team in tackles, led team in all purpose yards and rushing yards. Led nation in all-purpose yards. Vinnie threw for a ton but Miami played for the title so he got it even though the strong argument was for the BEST PLAYER being Lockbaum.
Rashaan Salaam 1994- Amassed 2300 yds all purpose for Colorado. Steve McNair had over 6000, yes 6000 all-purpose and 53 TD's that same season. Again, strong argument could be made for McNair but no dice.
Hershel Walker>John Elway 1982
Walker 1700 yds rushing and 82 receiving
Elway- 3200 yds passing, over 300 rushing and led the nation in TD passes. Walker played for the national title and Elway went 5-6.
Those are just a couple but get this notion out of your head that the best player ever actually receives it. Barry Sanders yes, Johnny Manziel yes but its rare.
With that said the West coast and eastern bias against the SEC and Bama in particular will more than likely push McCaffrey into the top spot and he is the best player all around. Henry is the best RB and has played very well but the media bias, which has awarded heismans to such people as Gary Beben, Jim Plunkett, Paul Hornung, Matt Leinart, etc were not amoung the leaders in the NCAA the season they won it. Heck the west coast media put TWO SC players in the New York ceremony in 2005.

If it actually went to the best player then Tobe Gerhart would have won it.
so would Ndamukong Suh and Tyrann Mathieu, as well as a host of other defensive players. Ladainian Tomlinson finished 4th in 2000 with 2158 yards rushing. Weinke finished 1st with 4100 yards passing 33 TDs 11 INTs. Josh freaking Heupel finished second that year with 3600 yards passing 20 TD and 15 INT. Want to guess who the two QBs in the national title game were? The award is a joke and has been for a long time. Sure I hope LSU has another player win it because it's cool for the player and makes the school look good, but the award is still a complete joke most years. Paul Hornung won the Heisman with 3 TDs and 13 INTs on a 2-8 football team, and this was in 1956. It's been this way since its inception.

Auburn's OL is average, Henry would be demolished when all his holes closed up.
Henry is a guy that with a good OL is absolutely elite but with an average OL or worse, he's garbage. Got no shake and 10 yd split is

It's pretty amazing the lengths posters go to to try and down play how good Henry is.

B.J. Symons owns the record for most passing yards in a season and not only was he not invited to NYC most of you have never even heard of him
Ole Miss fans definitely have heard of him, set the NCAA record for passing yards in a single game against them

Two Miami players were invited in 2002. You seriously don't think Leinart and Bush were worthy of their invites?

I'm surprised that more people aren't upset that a QB with a sub 3:1 passing TD to INT ratio is a finalist.

If Derek Henry is on another team, he doesn't get an invite.

Stop claiming that it goes to the best player in the nation and instead just admit it exclusively goes to the most productive offensive player on a team that happens to have a large fanbase.
Just going to leave this here...
Christian McCaffrey:
Rushing Yards:1847
Rushing TD:8
Receiving Yards:540
Receiving TD:4
Return Yards:1109
Return TD:1
Total Yards:3496(Most-all time. NCAA Record)
Total TD: 13
Yards/Game:268.9
Derek Henry
Rushing Yards:1986
Rushing TD:23
Receiving Yards:97
Receiving TD:0
Return Yards:0
Return TD:0
Total Yards:2083
Total TD:23
Yards/Game:173.58
It doesn't really matter what criteria you evaluate these two by, Christian McCaffrey wins every category a rational person would use to compare players. He is a better running back, a better overall football player, has more yards, is far more valuable TO HIS TEAM, has surpassed Barry Sanders' record this season, and he's exciting to watch.
Unfortunately for him, he plays for a West Coast school that requires their athletes actually know how to read, and because of that they lost a few games. So he won't win the Hiesman, and that's truly sad.
Wow. How surprising that an OM fan picks the only white player to pump for the Heisman. Guess you're tired of those other kinds always winning? Wave that flag bitch.
