If hell actually does freeze over and A&M beats bama, it is pointless to put them at number one because they will loose to multiple teams this season besides bama.

No, we MIGHT jump OSU and get to #2 but I doubt it. The rankings will probably be:
1: Oregon
2: OSU
3: A&M
4: Clemson
5: Bama
1: Oregon
2: OSU
3: A&M
4: Clemson
5: Bama

What are you talking about? LSU is about to have another "Greatest Regular Season in History" again with the tough opponents they have.

Wow. That makes me want to puke.

If they beat Bama, they deserve to be #1 no matter how it happens.

If the #7 seed beats out the #1 seed then yes they should. Why anyone would vote Clemson in at #1 would be cray cray.

A&M would have been preseason #2 if there weren't so many questions about the defense and Johnny
Say what???? Did your crystal ball tell you this or do you read tea leaves?

I just don't see us jumping four spots, especially when it would involve jumping a media darling like OSU. We definitely wont jump Oregon.

I don't think so. Early year rankings don't mean much, therefore, beating a highly ranked team early shouldn't necessarily launch up up the charts like it would later in the year.
Same reason LSU didn't benefit as much as you would have thought after beating Oregon a few years back.

I could even see a scenario in which we end up #4 and Clemson is also in front of us, though I think the SEC angle gets us enough votes to pass them. Nobody is gonna drop OSU until they lose, though.

This is sound logic. Thanks for your contribution.

No,
Oregon which is number 2 does if they win.
Number 3 moves to number 2. A&M may jump somebody but they aren't going to number one. Only Notre Dame (77)and Miami (83) have pulled off jumping from 4 to 1 when teams in front of them didn't all lose.
Moving from 6 to 1 would be unprecedented and frankly wouldn't be right if all teams above win.
Again, outside of the top 5 which can shuffle, teams rarely make big moves close to the top spot.
Football goes by polls and polls only. Number 2 moves to one. 3 to 2. It's where you are when that final regular season poll hits. Right now 1-10 could win it. the final week of the season you better be 1 or 2. If you are 3 you better hope 1 or 2 loses. Number 4 you have bigger issues.

Yes. Yes. I was wondering when we would get to hear your wisdom on this game. So you've got A&M by 3 TDs and scoring 45+. Got it. I need to call my bookie with this info. Putting it all on A&M. I just don't see how Bama can hang.

It depends how it happens. If we play the way we should and beat them by 3 TDs... yes. If we play sloppy and only beat them by a field goal... maybe only number 2.

Won't jump up but 2 spots
It doesn't work relatively...you beat 1 so you replace 1
As long as Oregon, LSU, & Clemson stay undefeated they would stay ahead of aTm
That being said aTm isn't beating Bama
