how involved is Min Kao with sports and the state of Tennessee? and he got his doctorate at UT not his undergrad and also lives in Kansas.
He got both his M.S. and PhD at UT. He donated $12.5 million to construct a building for the College of Engineering. He then gave $5 million in matching funds to further support the department. The Min H. Kao Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Building is named in his honor.
“The University of Tennessee opened its doors and offered me an opportunity to grow in my field. I hope this new facility will allow other young minds to pursue their dreams, and will further position UT as a gateway for great achievements in engineering and innovation.” ~ Min Kao
That seems pretty involved.

Here he is, dedicating the building with then Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam.

The hot board is already up.

The biggest mystery with Pruitt for me is his inability to put together a good coaching staff. The guy was an assistant under Saban for over a decade as well as Jimbo and Mark Richt. The guy's been around a lot of good coaches and was also a highly regarded coach in his own right. You would think that just by networking, Pruitt would have been able to cultivate relationships with top-notch coaches in the business so they can work for him down the line when he becomes a HC. But the quality of his coaching staff seems to be sorely lacking compared to the other schools in the conference.
Nobody likes Pruitt. Huge prick without the accolades to help people look past it.

The staff outside of head coach at Tennessee isn't the problem nor is the recruiting. Player development is a bigger issue than the staff.

I still believe Chaney was put on the staff without much input from Pruitt. Chaney isn't a good OC let alone one that I'd go out and hire.

To get a true start on a reboot, Tennessee would also have to fire Fulmer and hire a real athletic director – not one who wears coaching gear to work and gets NCAA wrist slaps for jumping into offensive line drills in practice.

Kao doesn’t look like the type concerned about the state of the football program. Ergen is worth more than Haslam. He needs to tell the Haslams to move over

Even the haslam's don't have enough money to pay for another one.

Is anyone outside of Haslam interested enough in the football program to pay for the buyout and then pay the next coach's contract? If Gus Malzahn had us tanking this year, I'm afraid we'd be stuck with him regardless what some insider said. Right now I think the buyout is right under $30 million. Jimmy Rane isn't going to pay that. He's filthy rich but isn't $30 million to get rid of the existing coach rich.

The problem with Pruitt is we have no identity. Good coaches and teams have that one strength that you can always count on. We just kinda go out there and play.

Just think if the fan base wouldn’t have lost there collective minds along with there idiot leader Clay Travis, Currie would have delivered them Leach. Thank goodness that fan base is as dumb as they come.

We revolted against Schiano, but the fan base was ecstatic about Leach.

I think you’re missing the part where y’all tried to veto 3 or 4 hires after that because it wasn’t Gruden. Then turned your sights on Currie the one guy one campus actually doing a pretty good job. You deserved what you got. Even so how good does Schiano look now?

No one wanted to come here because Currie sucked. My buddy that went to K-State laughed his arse off when we hired him and for good reason. Snyder hated Currie and he has a lot of respect in the coaching community.

UT fans have so much blind loyalty to Fulmer.
The 1 guy they put down, Currie was the guy who was in the process of hiring Leach.
Fulmer raised hell about this potential hire. Currie was flown in from the west coast & subsequently fired.
Enter Fulmer as AD, which means not hiring the Pirate & the football program continues to sink like the Titantic.
