if not for his checkered background (academic cheating, stolen laptop, 13 driving offenses). It appears that Cam was used by his father. If money exchanged hands, Cam did not benefit from it--his father did.

I have not seen any allegations that Cam personally received anything such as cars, money, etc.

Also, his father may have cost him the Heisman, an SEC Championship, and a National Championship.

Me too ...

But one thing is for sure ... someone's gonna pay dearly I would think. Either the media/writers for wrong info and character defamation OR Auburn OR the Newton's OR some combination of these.

I keep thinking that what would REALLY suck is if his dad kept this under wraps and the kid had no knowledge ... now I know this isn't likely BUT if it is damn for Cam.

not sure if I can feel sorry for Cam - there is seldom a case of guilty by association without some knowledge of the activity. I think that the Newtons are active co-conspiritors in an effort to promote their personal goals. Cams past simply goes to pattern.

Why do people keep throwing out that Cam may have been oblivious to the actions of others on his behalf?

Didn't Cam allegedly tell the MSU staff that "the money was too much?"

That sounds like he was making some type a apology to the MSU coaches for not signing on with them....

Agree. If Cam's father did market Cam's services, the Cam should be irate at his father for ruining his college career. But as you say, considering Cam's background, you have to wonder if it wasn't a father/son understanding.

I would feel sorry for Cam if he had no knowledge of what was going on...but that dude knew what his dad was doing and knew it was wrong. He could have told his dad to butt out and that he'll take care of him when he gets to the NFL.

If true, that certainly makes Cam just as culpable as his father in my opinion.

I fell sorry for him that he has Cecil as a father figure and role model.
