I can understand it from the schools who are competing for national titles right now because perception of conference strength is very important in determining who gets a chance at the MNC.
But the other 11 or so SEC schools bragging or rooting for "conference pride" makes no sense to me. Tennessee got our heads bashed in by Oregon in 2010, but because AU beat them, that's supposed to validate us?
If you suck at a sport, your "conference brother" winning it does not make you look any better imo. Just makes me feel worse tbh.

I agree with all of this. Fans of schools who have sucked lately bragging on behalf of the SEC would make fans of other schools LOL.

But............ In order to do this with any ounce of legitimacy is for SEC teams to win championships, their bowl games, play-off games, etc. If member schools don't all represent then how can you tell anyone that our conference is the best and has the toughest competition.

This x1000. I am completely exhausted from the kU rivalry as far as hatred goes. I've never hated and despised anything in my life as much as that university and everything it represents. There is literally no way I can use words to describe the HATE that burns within me towards those bastards. I'm relieved that we won't be playing them anymore and really hope we never do. The last thing I want to do is start round two of that hate with Arky. I have no more capacity for hate.

If it comes to a time when the SEC no longer runs college football, I might not be able to brag about the "toughest competition", but I won't sleep over that. I'll brag about my school's 2 titles in the last decade before I brag about my school's conference winning the latest 6. Maybe that's just me

But, if I'm watching a CWS finals with Arky ( or insert any SEC team here) playing UCLA or FSU then I'm rooting for Arky. I'm not losing any sleep if they lose, but will be happy for them if they win.

No. Born and raised in Lafayette. My granddad was an SEC umpire and I used to be a bat boy for some of LSU's scrimmages and a game here or there. My entire family has attended LSU. I'm the only one in 4 generations to not attend LSU because of a soccer scholarship. I bleed purple and gold. What I'm saying is that I pulled for Arly when they were playing other sec teams. Get it?

Nor are they ours. I see Auburn as more of a rival than Arky. During the middle years of the last decade ,usually whomever won the LSU vs. Auburn game, represented the west in the SECCG. Arky isn't shite to me

Meh to me, I wouldn't necessarily pull for either team if it came to Arkansas and a non-sec school.
A lot of LSU fans like to downplay our "rivalry" with them and pump up our old and now resurrected A&M rivalry, but to me, Arkansas is the team I hate. Maybe it's because I'm part of a younger generation.

I used to cheer for Arky too and still may but damn their fans here make it tough to do so.
