So the only "good option" was to stay with Ole Miss?

Until the season is over. Not only because it's the right thing but because it would make Kiffin a more attractive coach. Instead, he's now the guy who bails on the team in the middle of a playoff season.

LSU and Kiffin thinking one month of recruiting is somehow the most important thing ever is almost comical.

Ole Miss forced the decision when it happened, not LSU.

Per Ole Miss posters here, their AD was going to require Kiffin to sign the extension in order to coach the team after the Egg Bowl.

Correct. We treat our coaches like we treat our woman. If you want to go there is the door.

You got your man. The rest is noise. Relax. LSU will be fine.

I think as the years go by, Ole Miss fans will grow to better appreciate Lane’s time in Oxford.

I appreciate what Lane Kiffin accomplished in Oxford. I’ll also never forgive him for the way he left.

This is correct. He was told this by KC during the Florida week. It's why he kind of shite on Ole Miss in the post game presser. Rather than take the time to talk about what an awesome day it was for Ole Miss in basically clinching a playoff spot in front of a record crowd, talk about his heisman candidate RB's awesome performance, etc. He took a dig at the Ole Miss crowd vs. the Citadel. This is after a day of trolling the program on Insta by posting pics of Ole Miss Kiffin 2026 hats, tweeting weird cryptic shite, etc.

Then he had the manic appearance on Pat McAfee. He was not handling it well.

When did you want him to make his decision? Before the Egg Bowl?
If Lane knew he was leaving earlier, he should have announced before the Egg Bowl to allow Ole Miss time to hire a good coach.

If true, it's likely because of the circus Kiffin had created around it all. Again, this is why he should have shut down all talk of it right from the start.

A simple statement along the lines of - I will not consider any head coaching jobs while my team is still playing games would have gone a long way.

At any rate, what I remember was Kiffin wanting to be able to leave and still get to coach the playoffs.

And this response is why once Georgia ends your season, ole Miss fans can hang their hat on …. “ never lost a party”.

He said multiple times he wouldn't consider or speak on any other jobs until the end of the season -

quote:

"I'm gonna stay on what I've done for six years, which isn't talking about other jobs and that situation," Kiffin said when asked about providing clarity on his future to Ole Miss. "(AD) Keith (Carter) and I - I've seen him twice already today. Keith and I have a great relationship. We communicate daily on a lot of things, and I love it here, and it's been amazing."

quote:

"I've been saying the same thing for six years; I’m not talking about speaking on other jobs," he said. "I’m focused on this one.

quote:

Asked if there was a chance Kiffin could accept a new coaching position before the start of the CFP, Kiffin also declined comment.
"I'm not speaking on other jobs," Kiffin said.
