Sumrall was introduced as the Florida head coach on November 30th. That deal was done before the egg bowl, which was the 28th.

Yeah I'm sure he wasn't talking to anyone until the 30th.

You made a claim, I'm asking who reported that, and all you can do is deflect and insult.

You can't provide it, call that what you may.
From here it just looks like more Ole Miss BS that turned out to be false.

Can you blame me? Everything coming out of Oxford has been BS.
We were told Lane wouldn't leave, he did.
We were told Sumrall was basically a done deal, if Kiffin left. He went to Florida.
We were told only Lane and his brother were getting on the jet. False.
We were told the Ole Miss AD offered to double the offensive staff's salaries if they'd stay. The majority left.
We were told Lane threatened the staff and told them they wouldn't have a job if they didn't get on the jet. Multiple coaches weren't on the jet and were still hired at LSU. And then he let them come back and coach for Ole Miss in the CFP.
We were told that Lane barely worked and Pete was mostly behind the team's success. Meanwhile, Ole Miss was trying to make Lane the highest paid coach in America.
Is Keith Carter completely incompetent?

Try to follow the bouncing ball on this one:
You said, "I would have hired Jon Sumrall in your situation."
Jon was NOT available. Why? Because Lane was still our coach until November 30th when he said he was going to LSU.
That same day, Jon was "introduced" not potentially, not considering, not might still be available and deal hasn't been made, but introduced as the head football coach of Florida.
What you're implying is that they what, pulled together a contract on the 30th and he wasn't even working on anything with Florida??? Wow.
And what is it? We were supposed to be working on a deal with Jon not knowing if Lane was staying or going? Does that sound reasonable to you? Sounds like if Lane stays and we have a deal with Jon we're standing in a big pile of shite.

Ole Miss insiders are now saying he wasn't even in meetings the week of the Egg Bowl and everyone knew he was leaving.
Which is it?
And why give him an ultimatum if you were just going to promote Pete?
This was a shitshow.

I'm addressing your assertion that Jon was available for us to hire. He wasn't and I've given two reasons why.
I'm not implying anything about Lane. Ole Miss fires him without cause and it's a 35-million-dollar payoff for him. Who would do this?
That's all. I'm not digging into what "Ole Miss insiders" (who are these people?) are back tracking on or whatever. Wading into that soup is for people who spend their life wringing their hands over things they have no control over. Not being in meetings, the week of the Egg Bowl is the first I've heard of it. To be blunt there's a lot of that I've read over the past few weeks that is easy to get sucked into, I'm guilty of participating in some of it, and is it gossip? Maybe. It's poison all around and what does it serve? Really.
For sure.

It wasn’t the AD. It was the boosters. They were pissed and threw a fit.
Honestly, if everyone would’ve just kept their mouth shut, I truly believe everything still would have been up in the air until after Ole Miss’ last game. At least publicly. Yes he leaves, but it’s not public chaos. The only way chaos could’ve been prevented is if Ole Miss’ boosters don’t flip out and wait for him to finalize everything after the season. They tried to force him to stay another season or go immediately. That was never going to work. They chose chaos. And i understand why. The finger automatically got pointed at Kiffin. They knew it would. They knew Kiffin would look bad. That’s why they did it. Because that’s his history.
But in this case, he begged to stay and finish. He just didn’t want to stay longer than the end of the season. Everyone chose to ignore that he begged to stay because “Kiffin leave! Kiffin bad! You see?! This is what Kiffin does!” It’s wild, but it’s really not. It’s human nature.

You have only done that with Meyer and Spurrier legendary coaches...that was almost 20 years ago! So many coaches since then not even a whiff of a national championship ..so just stop..you really think Sumrall is the guy? No you'll be saying the same thing in three years.. oh recruiting is great oh you can win a national championship here..oh we are a top program. LSU won RECENT national championships with Orgeron and Miles.. anyone trying to hire them?
Florida isn't the national power you think it is ..NIL has changed that...

You have to ignore Sidewalk. In his mind, he's the expert.

100%
Ole Miss fans are blaming Lane but Keith Carter fumbled this badly.
First, he seems to have had no backup plan, because he hired Golding and not Sumrall, Golesh, etc.
If we use the theory that it was always Golding, why give Lane an ultimatum? Just make LSU or Florida do that and be the bad guy. Golding would always be available to take over and the longer it stretches out, the more likely Kiffin stays.
Then he supposedly made a desperate attempt to save the offensive staff by offering to double their salaries, yet only two stayed.
People blame Lane for dragging it out, he did exactly what he said he was going to do. He made a decision at the end of the regular season, just like Sumrall, just like Golesh, any of them.
That will come off as me defending him, because he's LSU's coach now, but it's just the facts of the matter. I've always thought the perception that Kiffin "jumps" around is kind of dumb, he doesn't do it any more than any other coach really. Heck, coaches like DeBoer and Elko have had more jobs than him in the last 10 years.
Is he immature and does he troll too much? Absolutely. Will he leave LSU? I wouldn't be surprised.
