I Think I am more irritated about our Oline today than I was after Kent State

Because it became obvious to me that it's not that they can't block as well as we thought, it just that they don't consistently. Whether it be do to technique, lack of trying, or mental lapses.

At times yesterday we had holes you could drive a double wide through and McCarron had all the time he needed. Other times we have guys being hit in the backfield, Lacy not converting on a 3rd and 1, and McCarron fumbling cause he had to scramble due to the line letting people through like it was terminally ill kid day at the zoo.

Maybe Saban has just processed me to expect consistency and perfection, cause I should'nt be disappointed about a 41 point win in any aspect.

I really didn't think our Oline was going to be our weakest link this year, but outside of punting it probably is right now.

We need to quit moving guys around and let the guys get some cohesion. I think barret jones played 3 positions yesterday.

the o line is a huge disapointment this year. and i don't know why. these guys have all the talent in the world as well as some experience. and i don't buy into the not being up for cupcake games excuses.

I agree, it was better in the penn state game, maybe we just experimented again yesterday cause it was north texas.

I think it will get better as our competition improves, they look like they are trying different things to see if they work. We'll know more when we aren't clubbing baby seals---lol

They're moving them around in unimportant games to experiment. They'll be fine. You can't experiment against teams like Arkansas so they want to test things against tomato cans. It isn't a big deal. They'll had almost 400 yards on the ground. They'll be ok.

we will find out this week. Ark will not be the best def front we face this yr but should be better than any to this date I believe. I agree with the OP though they seem to have regressed since last yr and they should be better. I am not so sure position changes account for all of this and that leaves coaching to blame. The talent has to be there Saban recruited great OL when at LSU I am sure he hasn't suddenly
lost the ability to evaluate talent at that position.

Just listen to Saban's post-game press conference. He said that moving guys around just hurts the consistency you would like on the OL.

While I don't think the line has played all that great they have played very good at times. There has been a lot of shuffling players trying to find the perfect combination which IMO is causing the inconsistent play.

I have also been a little suprised at Trent's running. At time he has looked very hesitant and is missing the correct hole. It also seemed like he did much better after he came back in the game after Lacey made some big runs/plays. Idk, maybe he has not gotten used to being the guy yet and is more comfortable coming in, Like he had for Ingram.

By the end the middle of the season this offense will be very good. I am really glad that our defense is as good, if not better, than expected. When they are fired up and playing at a high intensity level they are fricking insanely good.

They definitely do not look as good as I was expecting. I still do not know if we have seen the combination we will see this Saturday. I feel the best comination will be:
LT=Cyrus K.
LG=Warmack
C=Valachos
RG=B.Jones
RT=Fluker

I don't get paid 4mil/yr to coach so I will just leave it to the guy who does and who gets to see them practice everyday.

Well, while some of the backfield tackles can be chalked up the o-line, I think some of it is predictable play calling. We've basically been running the same offense since 09, and I think everybody has plenty of enough film now to know what to expect. They can only block so many guys on a running play.

ETA: Also, we don't have a receiver who's having to be double teamed on every play anymore.

This statement is somewhat true but we did always have depth issues while Saban was here. Yes our front line was good, but injuries would really put a bind on us.

Don't get me wrong I am not saying "you screwed Saban can't recruit O-line!!!" but it was not always a strength of our team while he was here.

The only deeper position at Alabama than the offensive line, is LB. But depth is always a fluid thing with an offensive line, because the starters take the majority of the snaps. I guess that's one reason there has been so much shuffling thus far. To try and develop that depth more.

There's nothing to worry about. We'll still win a national championship this year. I've already bought tickets.
