Florida has won 9 and one was taken back, but we won it. Also prevented from being called SEC champs in 2 more though we were champs on the field.

So 8.

So 8.

ETA: Also, if we're playing this game LSU has 5 more unclaimed national titles.

Incorrect. Again.

11 to 8 in LSU's favor.

You have 11 since the Championship Game Era? I'm talking about winning the SEC Championship Game.

This isn't the only thing that qualifies as a conference title. What a strange thing to say.

You're basically ignoring the entire history of CFB until Florida was good. Seems kind of dumb.

Two teams have been to the SEC championship game 12 times.
UF & Bama
Bama has 8 Wins UF has 7

UGA has been 7
Aubs has been 6
UT and LSU are tied with 5.

That may be the reason the OP remembers the Gators more than LSU.

I guess if you want to take the entire history of the programs back to the early 1900s then you've got a point. As far as greatness and relevance in modern times I feel that Florida is the better program. I mean, it's close. But for those of us under 40 this is the perception, IMO.

Without Saban it wouldn't be close. But since he brought them their brief stint of national prominence this century I have to say it is relatively close.

Oh definitely. UF is unquestionably the greater of the two football programs.

You're crawfishing like a mofo dude. Your original statement had no timeframe whatsoever.

Just take the L and go home.

The word you're looking for is "memorable". There's that Alabama education shining through.

Then how was UF 5-4-1 vs LSU in the 80's? The 10 years leading up to Spurrier's arrival.

If you were born in 2000 and died in the summer of 2008, then LSU is the most relevant program in the history of college football and Alabama is a bottom dweller.

Since were spinning things so much.

I will concede, based on the facts you have laid out, that historically LSU has a better program. I'm not too stubborn to deny facts, and you did a great job presenting them.

However, I do still feel that in the modern era, Florida is more relevant and the better program. The past few years haven't helped them with that perception which makes tomorrow's game even bigger for Florida.

They were pretty much even in the 80's. UF was better in the 90's. Even in the 00's. Even in the 10's.

They were better for one decade 20 years ago.
