And it didn't stop them from finishing ranked in the Top 5.
I mean it helped that they didn't lose 17/22 starters from the year prior.
They also didn't lose their starting quarterback and have to start true freshmen with no offseason.

Yes, because the exact numbers was the important part.

Your major losses were two linebackers, one of whom had never started.
Never saw a fanbase cry about that so much.

Not that it matters, but Tiger Stadium looked the same in the 4th quarter against Alabama as it normally does.

One season had all teams in the country playing a full strength. One season had opt-outs everywhere. The top 25 in 2019 was vastly better than the top 25 in 2020 due to this.
Stop with the apples to oranges comparison. Bama won the NC of the "*" season. They were good, but they were a better team in 2019 and lost to LSU.
No one, aside from Bama fans, will put the 2020 Bama team up in the top 5-10 of CFB teams all-time because COVID affected everything. LSU's 2019 team will be consistently listed in top 5 if not top 3.
Deal with it.

It’s been such a pleasure watching Alabama posters melt after the 2019 win over Alabama.
Then they lost their sheet when LSU went and manhandled uga, ou and Clem in the post season.
Then news outlets came out saying that LSU was equal to the NU, UM best of all time. That’s what broke their backs on this site.
Then the season is close to not happening.
They disparaged at least six out of the 13 teams they played. But that inbred logic then reversed when they thought they could pull the proverbial wool over by claiming best of all time…..a fanbase thst claims championships they did not deserve out of thin air “just to look better “.
All because of BSOATDS.
I loooove this bar.

Sure, it was just 2 guys that caused Saban to tell the fanbase "Look, we have what we have" and "This guy shouldn't have been playing at all, but we had to because of the extreme circumstances".
When it comes to talking about the actual numbers, LSU fans always want to pretend like it was less.
And if we are going to talk about people who just "opted out" and/or transferred, probably could easily get pretty close to LSU 2020 numbers.

2020 Bama barely escaped a 4-loss Florida team who got beat by LSU's dogshit team of last year.
This guy thinks Florida without Kyle Pitts is the same as Florida with Kyle Pitts.

Rant. I give you, the bamallectuals.
Y’all get your story straight. Someone send out a group email to all recipients and get your talking points right.

When did Saban say all of this? Who shouldn't have been playing?

LSU was missing its number one receiver too.

And the bamallectuals feel the need to create saints alters on a LSU website that tell themselves how good their asterisk season was.
That might be a mental / emotional issue.

The Iron Bowl loss was worse for me.

Absolutely not. You did us a favor by defeating Clemson. Many of us were worried that Clemson would unseat Alabama as THE dynasty in college football. Your victory over them ensured that didn't happen.

A knee-jerk reaction to a dominant win over Clemson in the national championship. LSU was good in 2019, but they weren't '95 Nebraska good. Nebraska never felt threatened in '95 while '19 LSU squeaked out victories over Texas, Auburn, and Alabama. As good as Alabama was in 2020, if I'm being honest with myself I would not rank them #1 all-time. They'd have an argument for the best team in the history of the SEC, but their shootout with Ole Miss and close win over Florida in the SEC Championship Game precludes them from calling themselves the greatest team in college football history.
You need to truly have a special season with dominance from beginning to end to be in that conversation.
