Mine does it for $30 and my yard has a lot of stuff in it like ground cover, shrubs, trees etc... It's nearly an acre. His guys even get on the roof and blow off the leaves periodically.

Damn, I can see why you get it done now. That's cheap.

Hire a yard guy and you'll have more time to do that. (Sorry, but I couldn't resist that!)

Touche'. I still have plenty of time to cook, just haven't done it.

My yard guy charges $40 per job to mow, weed eat, edge, and blow

That's a really good price. Looking around $500 a year for that. The yard at my old house had to be done weekly, no way that would be more economical. My yard now is every two weeks.

I guess it's different when you actually enjoy doing it.

I completely understand this for other folks. Cooking and other things are extremely therapeutic for me, so I get that.

That's great. I want to cook more.

Out of curiosity, how much did your mower, weed eater, edger, and blower cost? And how much in gas every month?

Total for all 3, about $700. Have had them for several years. Gas, maybe $20 a summer. Might be a little more now with higher gas prices.

My yard is pretty plain so it is very easy to do.

That is a name I haven't heard in a long time.

I agree with this. I suck at doing that stuff.

Yes it is.

I take pride in other things I do. I despise yard work. Some folks enjoy it. You do you too.

He takes pride in taking your money. No worries, I like spending my money on better things. At the end of the day, as long as it gets done is all that matters.

Lol, I could get one but would have the same issue. I actually like my self propelled.

1/2 acre. Anything more is ridiculous.

Ice, Ice Maybe

Extremely high demand for ice is causing a brain freeze for some local ice suppliers.

“This past Tuesday I think was the first time we ever had no ice,” said Kendall Shimazu, owner of Shimazu Shave Ice. “We never had it where I couldn’t completely open, but it just happened.”

A mixture of loosened restrictions, summer and tourism is building up the need for ice. But how hard is it to make more?
quote:

“Our ice process takes anywhere from 16 to 20 hours to generate more people to fill the bin. So it’s not like a continuous process. It’s sort of long drawn out process that we need to have different shifts at different hours to try and replenish our stuff,”
quote:

Experts expect the demand to stabilize in September when summer cools down.

Okay, you do you. Most people take pride in doing their yards. I guess I was raised differently...

Why don’t you just hire people like 98% of the OT does and not have to worry about your lawn looking like a New Iberia haircut?

I don't like wasting money. Unless someone has acres to cut, it is laziness to hire someone.
