Yeah everybody LA adjacent states think they have the gumbo locked down. It's normally whatever.

I’m in South Carolina. Y’all need to come to the Sea Islands to get back to the roots of N’Awlins cooking.

No onions or celery? Are you drunk?

New Orleans is creole. Not Cajun for a one
And since creole style gumbo uses tomato and okra it’s not the best.
I’m side with the Cajuns on gumbo. Duck and andouille or seafood gumbo. Neither with okra or tomatoes

Lol no, the roots of New Orleans cooking are found in France and Spain.

Sausage wasn’t introduced until the Germans came to Louisiana though. Lots of moving parts in this equation

Yeah. Right. Gumbo is called okra soup in SC. Let’s talk jambalaya. In the Sea Islands, it’s leftover okra soup, whatever meat is available, mixed with rice. Louisiana has damn good word of mouth reps from folks who don’t know better. Spain and France? The Chitimacha and Choctaw influenced them as much as the slaves did. Look, I LOVE eating Cajun AND Creole food. But I also know where it came from.

I lived in Louisiana and you don't know what you are talking about.

fricking idiot. Jambalaya isn’t made from soup.

The only proper use of okra is dusted with corn meal and fried with red onion.
Anything else is sacrilege.

I live in Tennessee and don't sing county music. Having lived somewhere means nothing.

I thought the Trinity included celery. If so, big miss.

Same here. I entered my gumbo in a competition against some good friends from Port Barre and kicked that arse. Most of the judges were from Lafayette and surrounding areas. Lot of fun. I do love me some cajun folk!
