Melt threads are the best. Especially baseless ones.

I've never seen fans lose a game...I've seen them help win a game tho.

By the way, y'all found a coach yet?

Nice disclaimer.

I agree with your reasons why Auburn will likely lose.

I think Sparty Party will be taking the trophy home.

Only team that's been there, done that left.

Auburn had a great ride. If they can finish it off, it would be glorious. Is there a son of a preacher man in the starting five?

I understand MSU doesn't have the titles.

But they yearly play in that Champions Classic.

Are they not a Blue Blood?
This is their 10th Final Four.
That's only behind Duke, UNC, Kentucky and UCLA.

Well if he did, it wasn't smart. He would have been trying to relieve pressure, but he actually supplied them with a subconscious excuse for failure. Most coaches teach their players to break down the various aspects of whatever game they're playing and just concentrate on them. This diminishes the pressure of the overall game (especially the score).
I'll bet Pearl didn't make the comment to address the outcome of the game.

He actually made those exact comments after the first game of the Tourney. It didn't seem to hurt our guys in any way.

Let's see what Vegas has to say...

quote:

Virginia is the only 1-seed to survive the first two weekends of play and the Cavaliers are going off as 3-2 favorites to win it all in the latest 2019 Final Four odds. The 2-seed Michigan State Spartans aren't far behind at 7-4, with 3-seed Texas Techfetching 4-1. Despite rolling through college basketball royalty with wins over Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky, the 5-seed Auburn Tigers are the biggest long shots at 7-1.

Hell yes they should be on the list with Duke, UNC, Kentucky and UCLA!
The only problem is with the term "blue blood". Michigan State is known as a "blue collar", lil brother team to Michigan, so the term "blue blood" doesn't really fit even though their play often warrants it.
Who around the SEC does this scenario remind you of?....just asking.

I actually have no fricking clue what you're talking about.

Blue collar? I just assume the whole state of Michigan is Blue Collar.

Blue Bloods aren't allowed to be blue collar?
Or they're white collar?

Jesus I had no clue the type of collar determined this.

This is basketball here. who gives a frick how they are in football.

Just wanted to know if MSU was a "blue blood" CBB team.

I don't think they would be considered a blue blood. Izzo is known as one of the very best in the game though.

No. Their blood's not old enough. They weren't good on a fairly regular basis until the late 70s...that eliminates them...there!

Nope.

I live an hour away from Charlottesville, and worked there for about a year.

Off the campus, no one seems to even CARE about the university's athletics. You cannot tell me that the cities of Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Athens, whatever - aren't all buzzing when those teams are playing in Final Fours, etc.

Last year, when they were ranked #1? No one cared. Heck, that might be why they became the first 1 seed to lose in the first round - because they knew if you walked 10 steps off campus, no one gave a crap.

I'm cheering for Auburn. I'm a Bama fan, I know, but they're LEGITIMATELY EXCITED TO BE THERE. That means way more to me than a cross state rivalry.

Well what about Duke then?

They won their first title in the 90s.
