Completely agree with you. I think that was going to be my original point but then I ranted. I didn't think it was an insult to our staff to say I think they pulled a B+ this year. I didn't think it was accurate to call it an A because there were things that went bad. Hard to predict the Keenan Allen thing....but it was obvious to me from early on that Keenan had some kind of issue with not wanting to go to Alabama. It seemed like his family wanted him at Alabama and he wanted to go to Oregon. I wasn't a huge fan of giving Maynard a scholarship....but by that same token, does Wilson Love even sniff a scholarship if his brother isn't Tyler Love? Probably not.

Then their were personal opinion issues. I think Victor Beasley is a player that is underrated and we probably could've had. I think he would've made a very good outside WR, which is something I think we needed. The staff didn't agree.

But you're right....we're loaded and NSD was boring as hell.

I think it is almost entirely because of Auburn's class (and bama's tendency to always measure themselves against AU).

Let's face it, most gumps have seen AU whip their arse more often than not most of their life (except the older gumps). So, gumps thought they were going to be better than AU for a while and whether they want to admit it or not, Bama being better than AU won't last. It certainly will not be a 6 year run like AU just had. Probably not even a 4 year run like AU had in the 80's either.

Deep down, most gumps know if AU has similar talent they will own bama. Sorta like the last time neither program was on probation for any extended period was the 80's and AU was the far supperior program. Sure, Bama was able to manage 50% against us, but they were 2 fluke plays away from AU reeling off 8 straight.

So, bottom line is bama is not quite satisfied with their class and trying to put down AU''s because reality is setting in and it will not be long until Bama is AU's bitch again as most gumps have had to live with most of their life.

That doesn't make any sense

All things being equal, why would AU be better off than UA? Alabama will always have the advantage of being the state school.

Also, all things are not equal right now. We have better coaches and players and you know it. AU signed a fantastic class, but until it is proven than Chizik can beat a decent SEC team(which he has yet to do) or Cam Newton can throw a football better than he can throw a laptop....you can't talk shite....especially to the national champions

How is being the state school an advantage? Every kid that plays football in the SouthEast knows where Auburn is located.

Sure there are more Gumps in this state. It is probably equaled to the combined # of AU fans in AL and GA.

Ok....but there are also Alabama fans in Georgia, Mississippi(me), Tennessee, Florida....basically everywhere. Auburn has east Alabama and west Georgia.

There aren't nearly as many AU fans...therefore, there aren't nearly as many kids growing up as AU fans

I see you say this repetitively... and it's one of the most ridiculously ironic things I've ever seen. Everything you guys have EVER done has been in spite of "bammer" or because Bama did something or didn't do something. Everything you guys talk about some how revolves around bammer. There are SEVEN threads on the first page alone of ITAT talking about Saban, Bama, and 2 threads devoted entirely to comparing Auburn's success to Bama's success and one comparing enrollments of the two schools.

In contrast, there are TWO threads about Auburn on Bamamag's forum - both of which talk about Auburn's recruiting class, and are complementary.

Out of the 70 threads on the front page of BOL, there are ZERO threads that talk about Auburn - with only one thread even hinting at anything to do with Auburn - and that thread was a guy talking about how his stocks are falling, which he referred to as "going into barner mode" or something like that.

Do ya'll really need to convince yourselves that a Top 5 recruiting class is good?

I'd tone that kind of talk down a bit. Chiz came pretty damn close to beating the best Alabama team in recent memory with an 8 win team.

And I think this is further illustrated by the proclamation by the majority of the members of your fanbase that I've encountered on these forums being happy with a 7-3 record against Bama over the last decade, and not caring about not having a National Championship - while every single "bammer" I've talked to would take a 3-7 record against Auburn to go along with an SEC and National Championship every single decade. It's all about being comfortable with who you are as a fan. Auburn fans wake up every morning wishing that they knew what the success that Alabama has had feels like. Truth.

Truth. Google "Auburn University in Georgia", and you'll bring up over 4,000,000 results. A lot of athletes in the Southeast know where Auburn is... but I guarantee you a lot of them don't - because the rest of America doesn't.

I guess we need to hire your arse right now to replace Cignetti as recruiting coordinator.

Wish Cignetti would just focus on recruiting and stop coaching the WRs. Well, he might be doing that already.

If we beat our Daddy every year and win national championships, I'm absolutely fine with that.
