3-13 against ranked teams? is that true? good thing the SEC doesn't usually have ranked teams I guess.

That it? The ONLY reason? You sure its not the 18 returning starters, one of the best QBs in the SEC, one of the best RB combos in the SEC and nation, the hiring of an elite DC, playmakers at every level, elite special teams, some really close losses to some very good teams last season, some highly ranked recruiting classes for the past few years, tons of talent and depth at key spots, and a favorable schedule?
They didn't just throw us up there for shits and gigs. We could be really good this year. Time will tell.

This should never be an argument for any team but I shouldn't be surprised, this is a byproduct of a decade of mediocrity from the Vols.

Check out OU in 2014, they lost 4 close games to good teams, returned a bunch of starters, and went to the CFP last year.
