If you want a seat at the playoff table, don't lose by 29 points to an unranked Purdue team and don't lose by 31 points to an unranked Iowa team.

then the SOS of every SEC team will be better dumbtards.

How it playing Indiana, Rutgers, and Maryland tougher than Mississippi State, LSU, or Auburn for Alabama????

Quality of athletes and quality of players means the highest level of competition is in the SE. Ohio St can compete but none of the others can in a playoff situation. Alabama has been in a big name opponent opener mode for years thinking that got the team's attention and made them focus in the preseason. They played Michigan and PSU and Wisky and I don't recall a single loss or even a close call in recent history.

True enough the SEC needs to go to a 9 game league schedule but give me a break. The Big 10 East is competitive at the top but the West is a huge competitive debacle, a joke. Nebraska, who would be a pick 'em betting situation against Ole Miss can likely win that side this year and play in the league championship game. But the people there still think they are in the '70's.

Aside from all that SOS is a huge factor in selecting playoff teams.

If SOS matters this year Clemson shouldn't even be considered. Scenario (unlikely) Unbeaten Washington. Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson. Notre Dame.

Who sits it out? I say Clemson. They will have played Texas A&M and no one else.

Clemson would get benefit of doubt after last years performance. Had Alabama won that game I think they start to dwindle in public perception but they beat Alabama in impressive fashion.

It worked having your best win against a MSU team (who lost to Ole Miss two weeks later), losing by double digits in your last game, not winning the division or conference. The key is passing the "eye test", it is the only established criteria.

After reading a few of your posts it's pretty clear you are scared of Clemson and are fishing for reasons to keep them out. Never thought I would see that in a Bama fan. Your crew needs to take you to the woodshed.

I know the CFP Committee was so relieved Ohio State beat Wisconsin in the 2017 Big 10 Title game. That would have been a huge gut-check for the committee had the Badgers won.

I like Wisconsin. Nicest fanbase I've ever been around when we went to Lambeau in 2016. But lets say Wisconsin had beaten Ohio State. This is where it would have been tricky. Forget the numerous Tide trolls on this board for a minute. If you had had to bet your last $100 on the winner of the 2017 Wisconsin-Alabama matchup would you really have picked Wisconsin?

You know the CFP was thrilled they didn't have to explain why an unbeaten Big 10 Champ didn't make the Playoffs. They may have picked Wisconsin anyway with a legitimate "well,Kirk. They were unbeaten and won the Big 10." Legit. But do you really think they would have been a top 4 team?

correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't the ACC have a better record vs SEC last year in head to head matchups? Pretty sure I read that or heard that somewhere after the season finished.

Clemson won it all last year. They would not get left out if they go undefeated in '19. Noticed how didn't even mention score?

And that's what you have to ask yourself. Are you wanting to pick the most deserving team or the best team? If Wisconsin had beaten Ohio State, they would have been more deserving than Alabama. They were undefeated and won their conference. But when confronted with the question, "Who would win in a straight-up game in three weeks: Alabama or Wisconsin?" how many of you would pick Wisconsin to have beaten Alabama?

And that's the crux of the matter. The College Football Playoff Committee has been tasked with picking the four best teams in college football to play in the final three games of the season. Wisconsin may have been more deserving than Alabama, but they sure as hell weren't better than Alabama.

Yeah, and...?

Did you think the CFB Playoff Committee was going to take a 10-3 Auburn over an 11-1 Alabama after the arse-kicking you got at a neutral site? Alabama ended up earning that spot they got in the playoffs by defeating #1 Clemson and #3 Georgia in the final two games of the season.

Never thought AU deserved to be in the playoff, they didn't win the Conference Championship. But I knew Bama didn't deserve to be in based on that and the fact their best win was MSU.

So if AU didn't deserve to be in, who deserved it over Bama getting in?

Duke is weak, I admit it and have said it since they scheduled that shite. Bama still has to play 8 SEC teams (possibly 9 if they make it to ATL) and the SEC is not a weak conference.

First criteria should be a Conference Champion, then look at who they beat. All the Bama Fans want to point to who Ohio St lost to, but ignore that they beat three top 12 teams. While Bama's best win was against MSU.
