I hate Les Miles because his most successful years came courtesy of Saban's players. It's too bad the refs aided them to a victory over UGA this year. Mississippi State was luck.

If he loses to Alabama and follows that up with losses to Ole Myth and Arkansas (which at least two of the three are very probable), the insincere rallies around Lester by the coonass corndogs will die off, much like they did last year until the Georgia Tech game.

Anyone who uses this statement against Miles confirms they are retarded. Thanks for your confirmation, now we can ignore everything you say.

I don't hate Saban now, but I did when he was at LSU. The guy always just really got under my skin, and I'm glad that I can be out in the open with my dislike for him amongst Tiger fans, unlike when he was still the coach.

i dont really hate him because he left the program in better shape than he found it in. you cant really hate a guy for that. i also believe that he was starting to rub people the wrong way. it was probably best that he left when he did. i think it has worked out well for everyone involved.

You Bama fans are reaching. Even if Bama wins and Les and LSU win out, you're looking at an 11-2 season.

Saban to this point has never had a back to back 10 win season. Obviously, that will change this year, but Miles winning 11 games 4 out of 5 years isn't because he's lucky.

Who are the better candidates you are referring to?

Bobby Petrino? Jack Del Rio? Butch Davis?

Are you serious?

Would you care to explain what your issues are with Les Miles? Should have have won 2 NC's instead of one? Is it that he was willing to risk a 5 loss season last year because he had the balls to send packing the QB the program was depending upon to make LSU a NC contender last year and this year?

I don't get it. Miles' record over the past 5 years is as good as any coach on any level and still LSU fans complain. And don't give me the argument that Miles is winning with Saban's recruits or Saban's program. That is complete bullshite.

And if you want to rely upon that argument, then admit that Saban is having success because he is winning with Shula's recruits and Shula's program. Contrary to revisionist history, Shula did a better job of recruiting than the so-called experts would have you believe. And it was not as if Alabama was having losing seasons the entire time Shula coached.

And Saban was still coaching them during Miles' tenure, right? Using your rationale, it is a given that Alabama had the success it did last year and its success this year because Saban benefitted from Shula's players, true?

Bama wins because it has superior coaching. LSU wins in spite of its coach due to superior talent. Of course. Makes perfect sense. LSU's players manage to win games by themselves with no coaching or guidance whatsoever. Brilliant.

Keep believing that. It is called denial. Saturday is going to go a long way towards breaking through the delusion many Bama fans live under.

A lot of people still wanted Butch Davis as recently as a couple of years ago, and Del Rio has his share of Tiger supporters too. Like I said, though, Meyer and Spurrier were the main guys on the market that winter. I think there may have been others besides the ones you listed too...

some of these comments are just weird really... I'd understand more if Saban left immediately after going 13-1 and winning the NC.. then maybe people would have more basis for their delusion (in thinking Saban would have done better lately than Miles)

But he didn't. He left in 2004 after going 9-3 with a boatload of talent

Right. Our goal line stand to hold Ms. State FOUR TIMES from the one yard line was luck, whereas Bama's blocking two field goals by Tennessee that were hit so low that Terrance Cody's fat butt could block them was a product of great coaching and great play.

Amazing.

What has Spurrier done at his last two coaching stops to make you believe he is still a great coach? What has Jack Del Rio ever accomplished in the NFL of any significance?

So Miles' fault is that he has only won one NC compared to Meyers' two? Wow. I bet there are a lot of fans at other college football programs who would love to suffer LSU's lack of success under Miles.

A lot of "people" at LSU wanted Mike Archer, Curley Hallman and Gerry Dinardo, too. Those hires worked out real well didn't they?

I was explaining why I was pissed off at Saban in December 2004. Like I said, I wanted Meyer or Spurrier at the time, and I barely even knew who Les Miles was. Once Miles was announced as LSU's coach and I read about him, I liked him immediately. Once Miles won those 9 straight weeks in 2005, I took it a step further and no longer cared about LSU "missing out" on Meyer and Spurrier. But if you are talking about late December 2004, yeah, I was pissed at Saban because I wished he would have announced his leaving a couple months earlier. Regardless of what coaches are on the market, it's not easy getting a good hire when other SEC schools have already been in the buyer's market before you.

i'd say you just earned your name 110%

without kissing your arse as much as i'd like to for this post, hopefully it will suffice to say this was a huge breath of fresh air.. but by now, there have been a good few LSU posters here that are actually objective enough about this issue.

things are what they are. i'll always say that -real- LSU fans are actually among my favorite in the country... save the ones that are manic and psycho.

So, do LSU fans not love Miles and think he doing a great job? Sounds like your fanbase is divided on their opinion of Miles.
