I'm not discounting Nussmeier's passing ability, but this is also his first true road start in what will undoubtedly be the most hostile environment he's played in to this point in his career.

Fair point. Nuss did play in multiple road games last year including having to go in against Bama when JD was knocked out of the game.

Can Nussmeier be perfect enough in the passing game to offset what is, admittedly, a weakness in LSU's running game?

I don't think Nuss has to be perfect, but I get what you're saying. Nuss has been great, but I am concerned about the running gam,e.

Looking at stats doesn't tell the whole story regarding Sellers. He has been efficient, and accurate where needed. Will he be able to withstand LSU's blitz-heavy attack? Dunno. He doesn't feel pressure as well as you'd like, but he is a very capable runner when loose, even though he's a pass-first mobile QB.

I'm going to have to push back on the accurate and efficient part. 20/37 54% Avg , 280yards, 2 TDs 1 INT. Also, he has more rushing attempts than completions.

Nuss is on a whole different level. 57/76 75%, 610 yards 8 TDs 1 INT.

I wouldn't touch this game, but I sincerely doubt it will be an LSU cakewalk. You'll have to earn it.

I don't think it will be a cakewalk. Tough road environment, issues with the running game and defense. But I'll take LSU -6.5.

LSUs defense is softer than baby shite, especially against the run.

You can tell which posters don't actually watch the games.

LSU is about to take hammer the Cocks..
USC appears to be pretty good. LSU hung with them.
SC were losing in the 4th to Old Dominion..
Kentucky got destroyed by SC.
LSU struggled with Nichols State.
Cocks are going in dry on the Tigers..

Ok. I fixed it. Same thing.
Either way, that wasn't the point of my post.

This is in BR, so I would expect LSU should win.

I mean I know LSU hasn't been to Columbia since 2008, but they're aren't getting out of this one...

I don’t think you appreciate how soft LSU is upfront.

It could go either way. The only way I don't really see it going is an SC blowout.

Jalon Kilgore, DQ Smith, and Nick Emmanwori have all been named as All Americans at some point in their careers. Nick in first-team freshman 2021, Smith 3rd team freshman in 2022, and Kilgore first team freshman last year.

I am not saying Sellers is better than Nuss, and I agree they're on a different level. I merely suggested that statistics don't show Sellers' relative level of efficiency. He looked jittery AF against ODU. But he settled in very nicely last week, and led three touchdown drives, including two TD strikes.

He was used overtly in the running game against ODU, which skews the running v passing numbers. Almost looked like we were trying to run the old GA Southern offense against ODU. Against UK, he was 10/14 with 2 TDs and a pick. That's pretty accurate, and efficient. Taking too many sacks, for sure, as I said - he doesn't feel pressure super great just yet.

There's a lot of optimism surrounding Sellers overall.

Also, hats off for the respectful conversation. No issue talking smack, but I do appreciate legit convo.

I remember the last time people thought we had a chance against LSU. We proceeded to lose 52-24

Did not know this. Not that I thought y'all were running scrubs out there. Should be a good matchup with the LSU WRs.

Definitely saw some improvement last week. I think Sellers will be good but still has a ways to go.

Same to you.

I think LSU will be able pull it off but would be shocked with a blow out.
I'm probably being over zealous for LSU, but again, this will probably be a a pretty close game

A lot of Tiger Rant posters thought TJ Finley was going to be a star after this game, IIRC

I think 24 pts is our ceiling; I wouldn't be surprised to see us only put up 13 though. Rain tomorrow could make this an ugly offensive game. First team to 20 probably wins.

I think our offense is pretty good and our defense is average

I think their offense is pretty bad and their defense is either good or average.

their defense has looked great but Kentucky and Old Dominion haven’t show anything on offense. ECU held ODU to less yards and points.

but it’s early in the season and none of that may be true.

There will be plays and there will be scores.
Honestly, I don't have a clue either. Have no idea. I think LSU will be able to pass, jury is out on the ground game. Hell, they ran the ball better against USC than they did Nichols.
