The argument was never that we didn’t want UF. We just wanted everyone else to have just as tough of a cross division rival. Unfortunately, the East could never seem to have multiple good teams.

You’re taking a small sample size of fans and a retarded AD and using it as gospel. It’s not.
LSU got fricked like no one else with the permanent opponents. At minimum we should have gotten Florida.
I understand why we couldn’t get Bama or Auburn. Some fans actually like to play tough teams.

It was done to protect rivalries to begin with. Alabama was #1 and Tennessee was #2 historically, but the matchup was because they were rivals.
Auburn got Georgia, etc.
And even though I kind of hate the title, when it comes to the "Big 6", they all play each other. Alabama plays Tennessee, Auburn plays Georgia and Florida played LSU.
So who exactly was getting the easy and unfair one?

Well at the time it was being argued it was LSU had the unfair one and bama had the easy one.
You can argue this however you want. I’m just telling you the other 90% you were missing.

It seems like you are just telling me why people didn't want it.
I mentioned that LSU fans complained about Alabama playing Tennessee. It's pretty much the only reason I even remember it.

You are right, I'm sure there are plenty of LSU fans who like the game. I don't mean to claim all LSU fans. I'm mostly referring to the debates that happened on this forum.

I did not remotely recall that Jamar Chase was committed to f.u.
As for Kinchen, he is a friend and is suffering from CTE, mostly from NFL not Bartley, but man what a brutal sport.
Herb Tyler is an LSU legend for that 1997 game alone. Of course being LSU we go and lose to lowly Ole Mrs the very next week.
